The Real Makeup Trend at the Fashion Awards Was No Makeup Whatsoever
Tonight, some of our favourite stars took to the red carpet at London's Royal Albert Hall for the Fashion Awards 2023. While the dresses were nothing short of show-stopping, it seems that everyone took a different approach when it came to their makeup looks. As a beauty editor, I was fully prepared to write about all of the bright, bold eyeshadows and statement lipsticks that we are used to seeing at these big events, but instead, most stars seemed to favour a much more minimal approach.
The likes of Suki Waterhouse and Olivia Dean could be seen sporting incredibly paired-back makeup looks, focusing their efforts on glowing complexions and perfectly-groomed eyebrows. As for eye makeup, the most I could see was a hint of eyeliner, and lips were kept subtle with nude and pink tones on display. Other stars followed suit, with both Gwyneth Paltrow and Alexa Chung opting for radiant skin and a natural blush. In fact, Pamela Anderson appeared to go totally make-up free, and I for one am here for it.
It's no secret that we have been favouring more minimal looks in recent years, with many makeup brands focusing their efforts on creating skincare and makeup hybrids that leave you with luminous skin, and leave others wondering if you are wearing any makeup in the first place. The hashtag #nomakeupmakeup has 1.4 billion views and counting on TikTok, proving that many of us are wanting quick, easy and natural-looking products to make getting ready that little bit less stressful. Seeing this trend all over the 2023 Fashion Awards red carpet has just solidified this fact, and as someone who likes to be able to do their makeup in 10 minutes or less, I am a big fan of this trend. If you're also a fan, keep on scrolling for some of my favourite minimal makeup looks straight from the 2023 Fashion Awards red carpet...
The Best Minimal Makeup Looks From The 2023 Fashion Awards:
Suki Waterhouse opted for natural, glowing skin this year, and it definitely suits her.
Olivia Dean could be seen wearing a super paired-back makeup look with a hint of pink lipstick for a subtle pop of colour.
Pamela Anderson looked incredible as she went makeup free on the red carpet.
Taylor Russell kept her makeup look simple for the evening, letting her black winged eyeliner do all the talking.
I don't know what products have Gwyneth Paltrow's skin looking so glowy but I want in.
Statement brows, simple eye makeup and a hint of lipstick? Alexa Chung certainly knows how to do a minimal makeup look.
Rochelle Humes kept things nude and natural this year, with a glossy lip and a slight flush of colour to the cheeks.
Lila Moss had me guessing whether she was wearing any makeup at all, and that's the key to the ultimate minimal finish.
