The Barely There Trend That Will Be Everywhere in 2021

There was a definite attitude of "bare all” on the S/S 21 runways with a whole new set of "naked” trends that are set to be big next year. Among them, the micro miniskirt trend—the one I’ll be adopting into my wardrobe first. To me, this feels like one of the most wearable, so it’s no surprise that it’s already hugely popular among the fashion set.

What makes the micro miniskirt trend different than ones we’ve seen in the past is this season’s super-short hemlines, often accompanied by a low-rise waistline, which makes these the tiniest skirts I’ve seen in recent memory. If you’re already on board with the barely there trend like I am, here, I’m highlighting the best runway looks and outfits from fashion insiders to inspire you. I’m certainly taking styling notes for how I’ll be wearing mine. And don't worry, I've included my edit of micro miniskirts to shop right now.

On the runway:

There is no denying the major statement micro miniskirts made on recent runways. Spotted everywhere from Miu Miu to Attico to LaQuan Smith, designer's are crowning this an essential trend for the season ahead.

On Instagram:

I'm already finding plenty of inspiration for who to wear micro miniskirts from the fashion set on Instagram. Whether it's paired with a cropped tee, a button-down top, an oversize blazer, or a cardigan, there are so many fashion-forward ways to style the must-buy piece. This trend is definitely primed for Instagram, so I'm expecting to see it popping up much more in the coming months.
