What a 28-Carat, $2 Million Ring Actually Looks Like on a Hand

Confession: I almost never wear jewelry. I used to have a few rings I would regularly wear, but for some reason, jewelry just seems fussy and unnecessary to me at the moment. (Maybe I'm just lazy.) So when Christie's invited me to preview pieces from its newest jewelry auction, it's safe to say I was out of my element. But then again, not a lot of people would be comfortable trying on some of the most expensive jewels in the world. We're talking an $18 million Bulgari ring and $1.5 million earrings.

One of the rings I tried on was a 28-carat, D-color stunner that ended up being sold for an impressive $2.05 million. Below, I took a photo so you can exactly what it looks like IRL—and it definitely won't disappoint. The best part is that this particular ring's owner sold it to benefit the Children’s Hospital and Children’s Institute of Los Angeles. How cool is that? Scroll down to see what the ring looks like on my hand—and please forgive me for not getting a manicure first.

Associate Director, Fashion News

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
