The Perfect Outfit to Wear to That Summer Barbecue

Everyone I know is flocking to Nashville for one reason or another (the top two being bachelorette parties and Bonnaroo). I can hardly think the words "girls' trip" without browsing for flights to the lively Southern city—and for good reason. With its deep roots in country music, eclectic food scene (I'm particularly eager to hit up Germantown), and the unique sense of fashion, the culture is unlike any other place in the U.S. But don't take my word for it… Nashville local Leslie Langan is sharing her favorite spots around the city and the one outfit she'll be living in all summer long, from her Fourth of July barbecue to her next date night. (Hint: It's from Walmart and costs less than $100 total—nbd.)
How she'd describe the style in Nashville: "Everyone wears muted tones, plaids, and dark distressed denim. Think starving-artist chic."
Her personal style in three words: "Unpredictable, chic, and feminine. I'm a bit of a chameleon with fashion in the sense that I like to play around with several different styles. I'm not afraid to take risks."
Her summer vibe in one word: "Whimsical."
Her three favorite things about Nashville: "One: I love that we're close to the mountains, hiking, and the beach. There are a lot of really great places to visit all within driving distance. Two: the city's growth over the last few years—it's pretty amazing to see all the opportunities flocking to Nashville. Three: Nashville has the best live music in the world. You can hear some of the most skilled musicians of our generation any day of the week."
Her most recommended spots in the city: "Merchants, Henrietta Red, and The Gulch for food. Frothy Monkey and Barista Parlor for coffee, and Bluebird Cafe and Ryman Auditorium for music."
The Outfit: "The pieces I chose reflect my natuical summer style. Many of the pieces are staples that can be worn with other pieces I own. I try not to buy something unless I know I can mix it win with at least a few other pieces in my wardrobe."
Her styling tips: "I ended up knotting the button-down to get a more fitted look and to spice things up a bit."
