I'm an NYC Fashion Writer, and This Is What Everyone Will Be Wearing This Spring

One of the numerous benefits of living in New York City when it comes to fashion is the commuter lifestyle. Rather than hopping in a car and driving to your destination of choice, you're forced to walk or take the subway from point A to point B. Why is this a benefit, you ask? Aside from getting in your daily steps, it also happens to prove useful for trend spotting. Every day, without fail, I see an individual (or many) that inspires me. Whether it's the way they've styled a specific piece, a fresh color combination, or even a new brand they're wearing. (Full disclosure: I've stopped many people on the street to ask what they've got on. No shame!) Suffice it to say, the city is rife with trend inspiration. Thus, I've got a fairly strong grasp on what is poised to be a style success this spring.

Broken into seven easy-to-digest trends, the below pieces are a mix of cool classics and adventurous items, all of which are worth giving a shot in your own wardrobe. From the hat that makes every outfit a teeny bit more hip to the animal print that's not cheetah or zebra, scroll down to refresh your look for the new season.

Bucket Hats

This downtown-inspired hat was spotted all over fashion week street style. Accessorize with the statement piece for an instant lift.

Hair Clips

Whether it's a bejeweled barrette or a pearl-encrusted pin, a bold hair clip of sorts should be in your spring rotation.

All Neutrals

Another huge trend spotted during fashion month was piling neutrals on in droves. For spring, consider layering a lightweight trench over a blouse and slacks or midi dress for a one-two punch.

Low Heels

Call them kitten heels; call them mules; call them whatever you please! Low-heel strappy sandals are here to stay this season.

PVC Bags

If you're over the woven basket bag trend, then consider the PVC purses that are taking over as of late. Bonus: You can more easily find your keys.

Tie-Dye

Perfectly coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, this psychedelic print is a fun pattern to mix and match your wardrobe staples with.

Snake Print

Infuse your next outfit with a touch of the exotic by way of a python-print piece, like a camisole or pair of look-at-me pants.
