Olivia Rodrigo Perfectly Pulled Off This Risky Shoe Trend at the White House

You couldn't pay me to wear six-inch heels anywhere, but Olivia Rodrigo just pulled them off with aplomb—at the White House, no less. The singer made an appearance in Washington, D.C. for an important cause: to advocate for more young people to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Naturally, she showed up with both style and substance.

"I'm in awe of the work President Biden and Dr. Fauci have done and was happy to help lend my support to this important initiative," Rodrigo said at the White House. "It's important to have conversations with friends and family members encouraging all communities to get vaccinated, and actually get to a vaccination site, which you can do more easily than ever before, given how many sites we have and how easy it is to find them at vaccines.gov."

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki revealed that it was Rodrigo's idea to come to the White House and lauded her support. "I will say, not every 18-year-old uses their time to come to do this, so we appreciate her willingness to," Psaki said to the audience.

For the visit, Rodrigo wore a Chanel plaid skirt suit along with sky-high Giuseppe Zanotti platform shoes and high socks. Scroll down to see her outfit and shop the bold shoe trend.

Associate Director, Fashion News

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
