We're Kind of Over These 5 Winter Trends But Are Loving These 5
Winter items, like many pieces, follow the ebb and flow of the trend cycle. And while nothing truly goes "out" if it's something you love, there are a few specific winter trends that we're personally not as into this season. We thought we'd share a sampling of them for you below in case there's interest. Of course, though, we included the winter trends we're feeling instead, so you'll uncover those as well.
If you keep scrolling, you'll find out more about the trends we're not into and the ones we're alternatively loving right now. But remember, this is all based on personal preference, and you should always go for whatever you're into—despite what anybody says.
With all that in mind, keep scrolling for a smattering of winter shopping inspiration.
Wearing: Half-Zip and Half-Button Sweaters
Not Wearing as Much: Super-Puff-Sleeve Sweaters
"I don't plan on buying any sweaters with super-puffed sleeves and baby-doll collars this year, but I'll definitely be adding some half-zip and polo sweaters to my collection this season." — Allyson Payer, senior editor
Wearing: Shorter Coats
Not Wearing as Much: Robe Coats
"This winter, I'm steering away from longer, robe-style coats and opting for shorter styles, specifically oversize peacoats. I feel like a shorter silhouette looks much better with trousers and baggier, lower-rise jeans, which is what I plan on wearing primarily this winter." — Eliza Huber, editor
Wearing: Matching Knit Sets
Not Wearing as Much: Standard Sweats
"While sweats certainly had their moment last winter, there's something that feels infinitely more luxurious when slipping into an extraordinarily soft knit matching set. For days spent working from home and nights spent with a good book, the knit matching sets I buy will always be in style, making them a great investment." — Sierra Mayhew, associate editor
Wearing: Classic Crew-Neck Sweaters
Not Wearing as Much: Mock-Neck Knits
"I think everyone had a big mock-neck phase over the last few winters, but this season, I'm less into the in-between length and more into plain old crew-neck sweaters or legit turtlenecks. Go big or go home, you know?" — Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour, senior market editor
Wearing: Furry Coats
Not Wearing as Much: Simple Puffer Coats
"As much as I love and swear by my puffer coat, A/W 21's runways renewed my love for all things furry. I'm excited to opt for coats with faux-fur collars, shearling jackets, or teddy coats. Basically, anything that feels über-soft is a must for me this winter." — Jasmine Fox-Suliaman, audience engagement editor
