6 Ways Everyone Is Wearing Sneakers in Paris
Sneakers have become a key shoe style in my wardrobe, but up until several years ago, I typically wore them only for athletic purposes rather than day-to-day outfits or office looks. As I've been wearing styles ranging from Adidas Sambas to Converse Chuck Taylors more regularly, I've been looking for cool ways to style them that feel easy yet elevated. And it comes as no surprise that outfits from Paris are inspiring me. Since it's a city that has everyday walking built into it, sneakers are a mainstay for residents and visitors alike.
Ahead, see the Paris sneaker outfits that feel very 2023 and the pieces everyone is styling them with, from trend-forward seasonal buys like maxi coats to closet staples such as ankle socks. Plus, see the cult sneaker styles fashion people are investing in—all hitting a price point under $100.
1. With Maxi Coats
Long, floor-sweeping coats are set to be one of the biggest trends at the top of the year, and while I would typically think of styling them with boots or heels, wearing sneakers and jeans is a cool way to add a casual element to a dramatic piece.
2. With Ankle Socks
From sheer tights to colorful hosiery, legwear is one of the micro-trends to know right now, and socks are another way I'm seeing it play out. A pair of ankle socks adds a cool styling element that will make you rethink no-show socks. I've been integrating ankle socks into outfits with leggings, but this tweed-skirt look proves that you can take the pairing in other directions.
3. With Suiting
Suiting gets reinvented each season, as does the way we're seeing it styled. Colorful sneakers are already one of the key trends of 2023, and pairing them with a suit adds a fun, playful element to tailored pieces.
4. With Baseball Hats
Baseball hats and sneakers go hand in hand, and while my instincts would tell me to pair the accessories with jeans, styling them with trousers adds an element of tailoring that makes them feel more dressed up.
5. With Tonal Looks
Whether you opt for "stick of butter" dressing or another color family, tonal looks that bring in a group of similar shades always work. The white sneakers here perfectly tie in the detail of the white T-shirt that is layered underneath a knit and coat.
6. With Tweed
Paris always makes me think of tweed. While the fabric can oftentimes feel elevated, simply adding relaxed jeans and sneakers makes for a fun, cool outfit that is anything but fussy.
