I Usually Steer Clear of Polarizing Trends, But I Oddly Like These 5
When it comes to fashion trends and my personal style, you'll usually catch me hanging in my minimalist, '90s-inspired corner. As a creative director and fashion editor, it's my job to keep my finger on the pulse of reigning and emerging trends, especially those that are polarizing. For the most part, I pass on the ones creating the most discourse when it comes to my own wardrobe. Each season, however, I am surprised to see which of the controversial pieces get their hooks into me.
At the moment, the polarizing trends that I find myself appreciating more and more seem to stem purely from nostalgia. For example, I can't help but think of the Olsen twins' glory days with the resurgence of giant bags. With baggy jeans popping up everywhere, I am immediately transported to my days of wearing JNCO jeans. Ahead, check out five of the trends that have my attention this season. Can I pull them all off? No, but I will 100% appreciate seeing how the fashion set styles them.
1. Peekaboo Cardigans
2. Giant Bags
This classic black tote gets a cool update thanks to the woven design.
Chanel's oversize bag has been seen on many influencers and celebrities as of late.
3. Biker Shorts
One reviewer shared, "Love these biker shorts !! The material is nice and thick not see thru, and the waistband does not roll down."
Here's a lighter-colored option if you're looking for something other than black.
4. Baggy Jeans
5. Pilgrim Collars
This collar can easily be layered over any sweater or top you'd like.
