Pom-Poms Everywhere: They Aren't Just for Beanies and Bags Anymore
The pom-pom. Has such a small add-on ever caused such a tidal-wave effect on the fashion crowds? These furry little fellas are like catnip for the photogenic, addictive to the point of double/triple/quadruple pom-pomming (Anna Dello Russo, we are looking at you). They used to be just for beanies. Then they moved onto bags and bag charms. Now the critters are plonking themselves all over outfits: earrings, shoes, skirts, jumpers, coats. If there is some surface area to be covered, the street style set are choosing to pom it up. And, if getting out of the January blues is a primary aim, so should you.

On Diletta Bonaiuti: J.W.Anderson Buckled Leather Skirt (£850); Zara top; Balmain boots; Les Petit Joueurs bag.
Style Notes: This is the pom-pom action you'll probably be used to—just one classic super-pom to liven up a simple bag—and it still stands up as an outfit tactic.
Style Notes: At Gucci's A/W 15 we saw pom-poms dangling from lace-up, mid-heel shoes… basically three huge trends in one and understandably a favourite designer buy at the moment.
A pom-pom skirt in action on the streets of Milan Fashion Week.
Style Notes: In subtler shades, you'll find that pom-poms—whether micro or macro—can look sophisticated.
Style Notes: At Céline's A/W 15 presentation, the pom-poms came larger than life and dotted onto thin scarves to be worn across one shoulder and one shoulder only. And that isn't the only Céline trend we are talking about right now: Check out this rad new shoe.
On Nika Huk: ASOS top, trousers, jacket and shoes; Saint Laurent bag; Vintage sunglasses.
Style Notes: ASOS's popular pom-pom shoes (as also worn by Lena Dunham) are continuing to be produced in different incarnations to keep up with demand.
