5 Risqué New Trends to Try If You're Dressing for Revenge
I don't know about you, but I've been playing Taylor Swift's new album, Midnights, on repeat since it debuted. While "Karma" and "Anti-Hero" promptly went viral on TikTok—and pretty much everywhere—it's "Vigilante Shit" that I predict will be stuck in my head from now until eternity. In particular, these lines: "They say looks can kill, and I might try. I don't dress for women. I don't dress for men. Lately, I've been dressing for revenge."
If a new Swift song has a fashion element to it, I certainly won't be passing up the opportunity to write about it. Below, I've rounded up five runway trends from the fall/winter 2022 and spring/summer 2023 shows that are fine places to start if you're ready to dress for revenge. Remember: Don't get sad—get even.
1. Thigh-High Stockings
The fall 2022 runways were chock-full of thigh-high stockings at Blumarine, Gucci, Valentino, and others. You can show them off with a cute minidress or go for a more subtle look by pairing them with a slitted maxi dress. You really can't go wrong either way.

2. Embellished Bras
Designers really want you to try a crystal bra for fall. The fall/winter 2022 shows included several different versions. Below are excellent examples from Area and GCDS.

3. Head-to-Toe Leather
Why not emulate Sydney Sweeney and try a head-to-toe leather look this season? After all, it's a trend that's officially runway approved thanks to Alexander McQueen and other brands.

4. Mesh Tops and Dresses
Dion Lee is a pro at designing sultry, party-ready pieces, and the brand's F/W 22 collection was no exception. Would you dare to wear a see-through mesh top?

5. Pants Optional
Bottega Veneta's pants-less S/S 23 look caused a stir in theBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing offices. Kylie Jenner also recently tried the pants-less trend so it's bound to grow in popularity among fearless dressers next year.

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 14 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2015, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Kate and Meghan stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible.
