I'm Nosy, so I Asked 4 Cool Scandis to Show Me Inside Their Homes

From fashion editors' new-found obsession with checkerboard to the proliferation of pastels, Scandi girls sure know how to set a homeware trend. While the traditional conception of Scandinavian design centres around simplicity, white-washed walls and plenty of natural wood tones, a new guard of design-savvy fashion lovers are championing a new—but no less chic—Scandi aesthetic that is taking social media by storm.

This fresh approach certainly doesn't shy away from colour, but it still retains a certain cool elegance that has historically defined Scandi style. After moving house late last year, I threw myself into the world of interiors, and it was the Trine Kjærs and Nnenna Echems of the world who instantly drew me in with their joyful yet stylish homewares and colourful paint choices. After all, with our homes becoming places of work, rest and play for many of us over the last 12 months, the desire to "nest" has never been stronger. 

It might just be me, but I love having a cheeky look around other people's homes, particularly those with a shared love of interior design, so it only seems natural that I ask some of my favourite Scandi influencers to show us around their humble abodes. Style Notes: I have long followed Pernille for her vintage-infused style, however, since I moved house, she has moved into my "interiors inspo" file. Just like her wardrobe you can expect plenty of colour, eclectic pairings and artisanal touches via patchwork quilts and bamboo furniture. Interiors bliss.

Style Notes: For that distinctive Scandi balance of clean-lined silhouettes and rainbow brights, look no further than Trine Kjær. While her room compositions are faultless, the devil is certainly in the detail: From the shell-inspired ceramics to the painterly ornaments that adorn her shelves. I also have a serious crush on the parquet flooring in her home. I'm taking notes as we speak.

Style Notes: Nnenna Echem may have kept the wall colours neutral in her Oslo home, but they provide the perfect "white cube" backdrop for the sculptural furniture and artistic prints that epitomise her interiors aesthetic. She is the queen of carefully chosen pairings, be it a teal chair and monochrome rug or lemon yellow table with a pastel pink candle. Proof that even smaller spaces can pack a punch.

Style Notes: I never considered pastels for my home until I stumbled across the Instagram feed of Anne Johannsen. Preferring a more stripped-back approach to homeware, Anne embraces every ice cream shade you could imagine yet the overall effect is anything but sickly sweet. Highlights include her statement-making wavy mirror and her swirled dining room table.
