I Just Tried Perfume That's Made for Your Mouth—It Was a Revelation

When it comes to beauty trends, I really thought I'd seen it all. From vampire facials, bleached eyebrows and even "crying girl" makeup, there's been plenty of weird and wonderful things for me to get my teeth sunk into. However, this week I came across something that truly blew my mind. Say hello to mouth perfume.

No, I'm not talking about a standard breath spray from your local Boots, I'm talking about a seriously chic range of fragrances… for your mouth. The products are from super-stylish Stockholm-based brand Selahatin, and after trying them out for myself, I am fully converted.

The brand was founded by Kristoffer Vural, whose sense of smell was amplified after suffering from a stroke. (You may also be interested to know that one of the brand's investors co-founded Byredo). Vural found brushing his teeth boring and pleasureless, and founded Selahatin in a quest to make the twice-a-day experience a lot more enjoyable. Alongside the oral sprays, Vural has also created a range of artisanal toothpastes and mouthwashes, but it was the perfumes that I was most excited to try.

I like to think of myself as the beauty guinea pig for Who What Wear UK, and I'm always up for trying Wholesale Replica Bag makeup trends or skincare crazes. So, like the team player I am, I decided to give the mouth sprays a go to see what they did—and more importantly—what they tasted like. Selahatin Oral Sprays Review:

In the box of samples I was treated to four different scents, and I decided to start with one called Of Course I Still Luv You. I'm personally really into the unique names, and I like the fact that the brand is making oral care appear a whole lot sexier than your typical mouthwash. After reading up on the fragrance, I found out that this particular one was flavoured with verbena, bergamot, cardamom and pine. I sprayed the product on my wrist first to see what it smelt like, and was met with a combination of fresh, spicy and citrusy notes. If this is what my breath was about to smell like, then I knew I was onto a winner.

I sprayed two generous pumps at first, and if I'm being honest, it did taste a little bit like I was spraying regular perfume into my mouth. That being said, it also had a minty element to it, and my breath felt a whole lot fresher after using it. Was it the most delicious thing I had ever tasted? No. Would I use it again to make my breath smell good? Absolutely.

After trying all four scents, I decided that my favourite was Escapist. This one is cinnamon, orange and peppermint, and it had a deliciously sweet taste that helped mask a slightly synthetic flavour. Although some of the other flavours didn't taste quite as much like I was eating a delicious snack, there's no denying that my mouth felt incredible after using them, and I found testing each one a really fun, enjoyable experience.

Not only that, but thanks to the chic packaging, I didn't find myself embarrassed to get these out at work or at a restaurant with friends to help freshen up after eating. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. So, could this be the next big fragrance trend? Judging from the stylish and high-tech devices that are currently on the market, I have no doubt that oral care is about to get a lot more luxe, and I can definitely see oral sprays being part of this.

That being said, these products are in no way something that you need to add to your oralvcare routine, but instead are a small luxury that would make a nice treat for yourself or a loved one every now and again. They certainly made my self-care routine a lot more fun.
