As a self-confessed creature of habit, some of my fashion choices are, admittedly, also often very predictable. Come summer, my wardrobe is populated with white dresses and beige linen; in winter, it's blue jeans, grey knits and camel coats. My shoes are no exception. From January to December, across everything from sandals to boots, there's a 99% chance you'll see me sporting black shoes—save, perhaps, the lone pair of Zara sliders I own in tan. Everything in my wardrobe works with black footwear, so why would I buy anything else? Well, for the pure joy of it!
This season, I'd like to shake up my shoe selection and introduce—get this—some different colours into my line-up. So I thought I'd take a closer look at some recent Instagram outfits to see if I could pinpoint some noteworthy options. Having come up for air, I can confirm there are five overarching shoe colour trends that are dominating right now.

1. WHITE
Style Notes: Although I previously would have thought white shoes looked, dare I say it, cheap, I've since completely changed my opinion on them. With a flurry of fresh slingbacks, mules and courts on the market, I have a feeling this is going to be the shoe colour for occasion season.

2. YELLOW
Style Notes: I don't currently own anything yellow, but seeing how Emna has used her yellow shoes to breathe new life into a black leather trench, I now understand the impact and freedom bright shoes can grant your existing wares.

3. SILVER
Style Notes: Bright metal finishes were all over the spring/summer runways, but one of the easiest ways to wear them is by way of accessories; in this instance, shoes.

Style Notes: While I'd argue there's a big difference between black and brown footwear, you're probably not surprised this is the shade that this classicist is gravitating towards. Softer than the aforementioned black shoes I usually wear, rich chocolate brown will work with the lighter palettes that are so popular right now.

5. ROSE
Style Notes: Does pink ever go out of fashion? I'd go as far as to say no, it doesn't. However, I would also say that certain shades feel more current than others. Last year, we saw the influence of Barbie pink in a big way. This year, however, things are taking a softer, rose-hued turn, particularly where footwear is concerned.
