One could argue that the best and worst thing about trends is that they're not all created equal. With that, not every trend is for everyone. That’s especially true when it comes to this one—you know, me—as I’ve always found myself rather discerning when it comes to what I’ll wear, and I couldn’t possibly imagine having to lean into every fad that comes and goes. After all, there are a lot.
Instead, I like to pick and choose which trends align best with my personal style, those which I think will be the most flattering on this 5’2” frame and, honestly, at times which seem comfortable. So today, I’m breaking down the four denim trends that made the cut for me this spring (and summer) and why. 1. Long Loose
It’s hard for me to switch up my go-to everyday jeans (which, at the moment, are a high-rise straight-leg crop), but I’ve been itching to give a slightly longer and looser pair a try, and now that they’re everywhere, I just have to take the plunge. I’ll probably balance out the baggy silhouette with a sheer or ruffled (or sheer and ruffled!) blouse and add block-heel sandals.

2. Creamy
By now, you should know that all things neutral are trending for spring, and denim has been no exception. Cream or beige jeans will be part of my first steps to getting the head-to-toe neutral look, followed perhaps by a light trench.

3. Not-So-Short Shorts
While I’ll definitely start wearing them sooner, I think this trend will be my summer savior. I’ve been ready for an update to my beloved jorts for a while now, and the longer styles that are trending are ideal for styling from day to night with a simple shoe change. Unlike short shorts, they won’t look off with even the highest heels.

4. Acid Wash
The acid-wash trend has been on our radar since it hit the spring runways back in September, and it’s finally time to take it for a spin—if, of course, you haven’t already. I love the look because it’s an easy way to liven up your simplest jean outfits without having to change anything about the way you style them. The "print” does all the work on its own.
