Oh hey there, spring 2021. Even though we're still very much bogged down in winter, I'm already jumping the gun on planning my spring wardrobe—nothing wrong with a little sartorial escapism, right? The new season brings a fresh batch of silhouettes to look forward to and as a fashion editor, I tend to research, talk about, and obsess over each and every one of them. That being said, there's a difference between the trends I report on and what actually enters my closet and I tend to be much pickier about the latter.

Curious to know which styles I'll realistically wear IRL? Here, I'm sharing the six spring trends that are destined for my closet, all of which are conveniently stocked at our Who What Wear line for under $40. I won't lie, not everything that's trending right now feels right for me, so I'll be skipping a number of styles that don't align with my relaxed and easy outfit vibe these days. Keep reading for my list of editor-approved spring trends and shop the pieces I'm eyeing within each.

Wearing: Luxe Loungewear

Skipping: Stirrup Leggings

Let's be real, I won't be changing out of my comfy clothes just because it's a new season (I'm still WFH, after all) which is why loungewear that has interesting details like ribbing or ruffle details is hitting the spot.

Wearing: Bold Shoulders

Skipping: Sheer

Yep, I just can't quit puff sleeves. The trend just continues to be relevant and is such an easy and wearable way to make a chic statement.

Wearing: Loose Denim

Skipping: Distressed Denim

Relaxed is the name of my denim game this spring and from the runways to celebrities, these loose jeans are truly everywhere, so I know there's no shortage of outfit inspiration to be had.

Wearing: Power Pants

Skipping: G-String Pants

Cool basics are pretty much all I want to wear right now, so this trend is right up my alley. I'm all about easy-to-wear pants that are interesting yet have room for wide movement.

Wearing: Joyful Dresses

Skipping: Leather Dresses

Spring is synonymous with all things fresh, new, and uplifting and these mood-lifting frocks in a range of bright colors and pretty prints are sparking major joy.

Wearing: Relaxed Suiting

Skipping: Tailored Suiting

The fashion world is stuck on suits and, frankly, so am I. This season, it's all about a relaxed vibe with loose trousers, flowy blouses, and big blazers instead of anything too sharply tailored or structured.
