Every Royals' Favorite Bag Brand Just Launched Its First Vegan Collection
When two different royals wear the same bag brand to the same event, you know they're on to something good. Kate, Princess of Wales, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, wore Strathberry to the Order of the Garter ceremony this week, joining Meghan Markle as fans of the Scottish brand.
The royalty-approved brand is now making news for a different reason: Strathberry has just launched its first alternative-leather collection, and I couldn't be more excited. "The new styles are skillfully handcrafted to a perfect finish with smooth grape leather, made in Italy with progressive techniques repurposing waste materials from the wine-making industry," Strathberry said in a statement.
The collection came to life with the help of celebrity stylist Tara Swennen, who works with clients such as Kristen Stewart, Ali Wong, Allison Janney, Shailene Woodley, and others. "Strathberry's dedication to embracing innovative materials and a more responsible approach to fashion and business is admirable," Swennen said in a statement. "I feel lucky to have been part of this project and have accompanied them in their ongoing sustainability journey." Without further ado, scroll down to shop the new grape-leather bags.
Meghan Markle owns the original Midi Tote in two colors, but something tells me she'd love the new grape leather version even more.
It was Swennen's idea to add handmade crochet details to Strathberry's classic styles.
The collection is made from 80% renewable and recycled raw materials.
This new collection is a huge step forward in the company's sustainability mission.
Rest assured that grape leather is just as supple, durable, and beautiful as real leather.
How could I possibly choose my favorite style?

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
