What to Wear to a Tailgate This Season
Tailgate season is officially upon us, and you know what that means—it's time to gather together with friends and family and enjoy delicious food and drinks while cheering on your favorite teams. Who's as excited about gamedays as we are?
While we certainly love the food, drinks, and social aspects involved, we're big fans of the fashion because, in short, there are no set rules on what makes a proper tailgate outfit. Instead, it's all about wearing what you feel good in and, of course, something that's comfortable enough to wear hours on end, regardless of weather conditions.
Staples that are always tailgate-approved? The basics, of course, whether that's a pair of jeans, a classic white tee, casual sneakers, or a cozy sweatshirt. And if you feel like sporting team colors to really show off your spirit on game day, that's always a great route as well.
Ahead, we found some examples of what makes a good tailgate outfit, but remember: Wear something that's comfy and weather-appropriate (this can change drastically through the season). Read on to see the looks and then shop pieces to wear over and over again on gameday.
Sneakers are a must.
As is a comfy sweater once the temperatures drop.
Try a sweatshirt-and bike shorts combo.
A denim jacket is the perfect game-day layering piece.
On a warmer fall day, try cutoff shorts paired with a top in your team's colors.
Accessorize with a baseball cap.
Style a shearling coat with sweatpants.
Combat boots are a classic.
Try a skirt-and-tee combo when it's still warm out.
