Don't Be Scared, But You're About to Fall in Love With The Vampire's Wife
You know that overwhelming feeling you get when you see something so pretty it physically consumes your entire being? That's exactly how I felt when I first laid eyes on a dress from The Vampire's Wife. Although I wasn't able to try on or touch the dress at the time (since I was looking at it on my computer), the garment made me feel something. The dress silhouette itself wasn't necessarily ground-breaking, but the print, material, and drama of it were. How could you not stop to fawn over a two-tone ice blue and pale pink midi dress adorned with peppy ruffled hems and a glitz that could make a crying baby smile? It's simple—you can't.
In a desperate hunt to discover more about this brand, I stalked its website and researched as much as I could about the designers and the intention behind the brand so charmingly called "The Vampire's Wife." Considering everything put out by the label looks exactly like something a real (whatever that means) vampire's wife would actually wear, this task hit a level of immediacy I'm a little embarrassed to admit. Intrigued yet?
The brand informed us that "The Vampire's Wife is a womenswear brand founded by Susie Cave and business partner Alex Adamson. Titled after an abandoned book project by Susie's husband Nick Cave, rather than seasonal collections, the brand works in timely drops of new colors, fabrics, and styles that speak to the brand's subversive femininity. The pieces are timeless, luxurious, and look to highlight and accentuate the female silhouette. Centered around dresses, the brand has recently expanded into handbags and limited-edition T-shirts. American Vogue describes it as 'beguiling and romantic,' and the dresses are highly coveted by luminaries from the art, film, fashion, and music worlds, with Florence Welch, Cate Blanchett, Kate Moss, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ruth Negga, Chloë Sevigny, Chloë Grace Moretz, Salma Hayek, Keira Knightley, and Kylie Minogue, among others, often wearing Cave's designs."
It's stories and pieces like these that make fashion feel alive again, and I can't wait for you to shop the brand for yourself. Below enjoy the experience that is shopping The Vampire's Wife and see a few gems from the label's lookbook imagery as well.
