The '80s Trend You'll Be Wearing Next Month

When it comes to my fashion choices, I’ve documented the fact that I stand on the more classic and less risk-forward end of the spectrum. I’m never going to be one of those people who try every latest trend—although I do work them in in small doses. One area where I make an exception, however, is when it comes to prints. Specifically, animal prints.

I’ve been a longtime fan of leopard and really consider it to be a classic and timeless print (more than a trend) and have been throwing it on for years and years now. Most recently, I’ve been wearing it in the form of one-piece swimsuits. This fall, though, there’s a focus on animal prints in general, largely stemming from the ’80s trends and silhouettes that swept the runway. So, in addition to leopard, you’ll be seeing other forms like zebra and tiger prints.

Tiger-print clothes are specifically one micro-trend that I’m especially excited by. Though I’ll never tire of leopard, tiger prints feel particularly fresh and cool. I already tried it for myself and have been increasingly noticing it in the outfits of fashion girls and in the new arrivals sections from all my favorite designers. Ahead see how to wear the print and shop my edit of pieces to wear for the season ahead.

Though I’m generally cautious about new trends, I was quick to adopt the tiger print into my wardrobe. These pants are definitely a statement, but I think they work with a minimal top and jewelry.

I always have my eye on Pernille Teisbaek for her cool styling ideas. I’m still warming up to flip-flops, but she’s proving how to make them look cool with this tiger-print dress.

Réalisation just came out with a new tiger print for its collection, and I have a feeling it’s about to be everywhere. This dress is almost sold out already.

If you want to ease your way into tiger-print pieces, try an accessory like these cool sunglasses from Swedish brand Chimi.
