How Women Sizes 2 to 10 Wear the Same One-Size-Fits-All Swimsuit

As editors, we discover loads of new brands all the time, and believe me—we get excited about all of them. But just last month, we uncovered a new line of swimwear that seriously stopped us in our tracks. A simple enough idea, this brand claimed to design one single swimsuit to fit standard sizes 2 to 10. I know—it sounds too good to be true. How can a one-size-fits-all swimsuit possibly fit such different body shapes? Does it actually look good on everyone? And if so, what kind of mythical fabric is it made with?

Clearly, we had a ton of questions for the UK-based brand You Swim. It launched this summer with a single one-piece design offered in five enticing colorways and a claim that "this baby is ribbed, crazy-flexible, feels soft, thick, super luxe, and the simple shape will equally flatter big-busts, no-bums, and all the beautiful in-betweens." We were so intrigued by the whole concept that we felt compelled to test it out ourselves.

We sent off five Clique employees who wear a range of dress sizes from 2 to 10 to spend a day at the beach (or pool or lake) in You Swim. Below we're sharing their honest reviews of the suit. Maybe we're biased, but every one of them looks so good in their suit. Don't take it from me though, so go on to see the suits in action, and if you're so compelled, shop one for yourself.

"First things first: The You Swim unboxing experience is a treat. The suit comes in a clear plastic pouch, and it's trendy, cute, and useful. I've already repurposed my pouch as a travel accessory. The suit itself lived up to my high expectations as well. The marigold color was vibrant, the texture of the fabric made it easy to wear as a bodysuit because it didn't necessarily look like a swimsuit, and most importantly, it was very comfortable to wear on land and in the water. I worried about the fit when I first tried it on, but the stretchy fabric ending up tightly embracing my body in a pleasant way. My only complaint? I wish the back had a lower scoop, but perhaps we'll see more styles in a future release. One thing I know for sure: I'll be wearing my suit for the rest of the summer and keeping an eye on the brand for future releases." — Giselle Childs, copy editor at Clique

Normally wears dress size 2 or 4.

"I'm obsessed with my You Swim suit! It is super comfortable and fits me perfectly. The fabric feels great against my sensitive skin, and I love that I can move and do activities without having to constantly readjust the suit. My favorite part is that it can double as a bodysuit." — Carly Tice, campaign coordinator at CollegeFashionista

Normally wears dress size 6.

"Instead of accentuating my short torso (like most one-pieces), the Aplomb had a lengthening effect. The texture is everything too—luxe, slimming, and breathable. It does without the glossy shine of most swimwear, so it can also double as a bodysuit. Need in every color." — Alyssa Sage, marketing coordinator at Clique

"They're not joking when they say it's crazy-flexible. I played around a bit with the suit and hiked up the bottom hem over my hip bones to create a high-cut look. I also adored the square-ish neckline and the ribbed 'scrunchie' effect from its texture.

"I usually stay away from one-pieces because I don't like how they look on me, but amazingly, despite the fabric's flexibility, the thicker material maintained a nice weight to it, which seamlessly hugged my curves in a very flattering way. I ended up wearing it as a bodysuit for the rest of the day." — Anna LaPlaca, assistant editor atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing

"As a former competitive swimmer, I've never actually owned a casual one-piece, so I was excited to try this one. I took it with me on a lake vacation in Michigan's lower peninsula and loved the fabric and how it felt. I also think the back is exceptionally flattering. The only way to make this suit better would be to offer a cut with a plunge or V-neck silhouette, so I'll be on the lookout for what this brand releases next." — Emily Gregor, copy editor at Clique

Normally wears dress size 8 or 10.
