Zara's Owner Is Donating Over 300,000 Masks to Hospital Patients and Workers
While many of us are doing our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19 by staying home or working essential jobs, major fashion companies are thankfully being supportive as well. Earlier this week, luxury conglomerate LVMH, which owns Louis Vuitton, Dior, Givenchy, and others, announced that its perfume and cosmetics factories will be producing hand sanitizer to distribute to French health authorities. Now, Zara's parent company, Inditex, has announced its own contribution to the cause.
As Vogue reports, Spanish company Inditex has committed to donating masks for health workers and COVID-19 patients in Spain. The company has already donated 10,000 masks and hopes to donate another 300,000. Per Vogue, Inditex's statement said it "will make a delivery at least once a week of materials we purchase directly." In addition to the masks, Inditex is also actively researching ways to manufacture hospital gowns using its own factories. Currently, Inditex is trying to source the hospital-grade material needed to achieve this, according to Vogue. I think we can all agree that the world needs all the help it can get right now, so bravo to Inditex for stepping up.
