I Live in Elevated Basics—These 7 Alex Mill Items Are My Spring Staples
Welcome to The Great Try-On. With spring officially in full swing, it's time to ready your wardrobe, and we're here to provide a little shopping inspiration. We got to try on some of the best spring pieces from some of your favorite brands and documented it all from our at-home dressing rooms so that you can see how they actually look IRL. We hope that our photos and candid reviews will help you shop for spring wardrobe builders that you'll wear over and over this season and beyond.
While I may experiment with various trends each season (especially on the accessory front), I consider elevated basics to be the foundational elements in my wardrobe. On that note, there are actually a few key brands I turn to when I'm looking for these versatile pieces. Alex Mill happens to be one of said labels. If I'm on the hunt for fresh shirting, Alex Mill will have it. Chic trousers? Yep, that's there too. In fact, the spring offering at Alex Mill is quite legit.
I actually took the opportunity to order and try on a range of pieces from the new collection, and I uncovered seven pieces that are already my new spring staples. Below, you'll see the items in question, along with my overall review and intel on how I'm styling the finds.
Keep scrolling to check out elevated basics that could also become your new essential pieces. In terms of shopping, you'll find the items highlighted and other A+ pieces to consider as well.
Alex Mill Mill Shirt
My Review: This striped shirt is actually already a favorite among other editors on the team. First of all, the green color is fantastic—statement-making yet versatile. It's also super lightweight and beyond comfortable.

Alex Mill Painter Pants
My Review: While I wore black skinny jeans for a good decade, I recently started opting for looser blue jeans over the last year. This specific pair feels very right-now with the relaxed silhouette. I also find the utility accents to be forward for the season.

Alex Mill Balmacaan Coat
My Review: Yes to this coat. The slightly oversize fit drew me to this piece first—it's modern and chic. When I put it on, the structure of the coat with the sturdy fabric made the item feel quite substantial. It's also water-repellent, so very functional.

Alex Mill Easy Shirt in Washed Black
My Review: Similar to the green shirt above, this easy shirt (literally—the product name is Easy) is already a favorite. This specific style comes oversize, so it has an inherently cool vibe. As the description states, it actually looks even better rumpled up (and that's true).
Shop the Easy Shirt:
Alex Mill Easy Shirt in White
My Review: This shirt is the same as the above but in white. Given that white button-down shirts (especially in the relaxed fit) are true modern classics, this comfortable pick is also a go-to in my wardrobe.

Alex Mill Flat Front Pants
My Review: I'm going to be honest: I haven't worn navy pants in a very long time. I pretty much exclusively wore all black for years and years, so these were quite the departure. But now that I've been embracing shirting in white and various colors, these trousers seemed like they could be worth a try. And yep, it was worth it. The color is great, the crop is perfect, and they're made from 100% cotton, so the comfort and durability are there.

Alex Mill Alex Sweater
My Review: I'm always on the hunt for that perfect sweater—one that I can dress up or down. This knit is top-notch. I find the roll-neck detail to be quite elegant, along with the dropped shoulder. These design elements give it a dressed-up feel when worn with trousers, but it can also look cool and laid-back with jeans.
