Many of us on the team put our Amazon Prime accounts to solid use on the regular. We’re kind of like Prime power shoppers in that we turn to the megaretailer to shop for a variety of staples. We’re talking about everything from essentials like toilet paper to fashion and beauty items. Given our shopping experience and the fact that we’ve spent a decent amount of time scrolling through the pages and pages of Amazon merch, we’ve actually come up with a few tricks along the way to uncover the best stuff at the best prices.

We thought the tips in question could be of interest to you in an effort to streamline your Amazon shopping experience—you know, so you can uncover those special gems. With that in mind, keep scrolling to check out our best Amazon shopping tricks. You’ll find some of the items we’re loving at the moment sprinkled throughout as well.

1. Add items to your cart ahead of Prime Day to get the best deals

"I tend to stock up on all my basics during the Prime Day sale. I'll always add them to my cart in advance of the sale so all I need to do is click 'buy' once the sale rolls around. I'll search for Amazon house brands in particular—which always seem to have the best deals! Amazon Essentials, Daily Ritual, Goodthreads, The Drop, and Core 10 are my favorites."

2. Consider the Prime 30-day free trial

"I know most households have a Prime account these days, but in the off chance that you don't, it doesn't mean you have to miss out on the Prime Day deals. Simply sign up for a 30-day free trial, and make a calendar note to cancel before you get charged the membership fee. Also if you live with other people and you have individual Prime accounts, consider sharing a household account. A Prime membership used to be $89, and was increased to $119 a year a couple years ago. I imagine it could go up again."

3. Filter by customer ratings

"Admittedly, finding the best products on Amazon can feel stressful (since there's so much stuff), so what I typically do is make sure, when searching for products, I set up the results to be sorted by customer rating. To do that, you'll want to click the star rating you want on the left-hand side along with the 'sort by' on the top-right-hand side. If you don't click both, it may still display not-relevant products. Being able to weed out some of the products based on reviews helps in searching for the perfect thing to buy."

4. Take advantage of "early fashion deals"

"If you go to the Amazon Fashion home page, there's a section called 'Early fashion deals' where you can find great discounts on clothing ahead of Prime Day. The clothing section is particularly noteworthy, with discounted sweaters, dresses, and jeans."

5. Consider items from the men's department

"My biggest Amazon flex is my finds in the men's department. I love buying button-downs, sweaters, sweats, and much more from Amazon's men's section. I find that the oversize fit makes everything look cooler and, honestly, way more expensive."

6. If something is on sale and you're unsure of sizing, order multiples and take advantage of easy returns

"My most useful trick is pretty simple—anytime you see something you like, add it to your Amazon cart and wait for Prime Day to see if it's included in the sale. Amazon carts save pretty much forever (even if something goes out of stock), so it's a great way to keep track of everything. Additionally, since Prime Day is only two days long, I highly recommend ordering items in multiple sizes if you're unsure of the fit. Amazon issues refunds very quickly, and you won't miss out on the deals if you need to order a different size post-sale."
