If you, too, remember every word to "Sk8er Boi," you'll be pleased to hear that Avril Lavigne has some exciting news. She just announced on Instagram that she and singer Mod Sun are engaged. (His real name is Derek Ryan Smith, by the way.) Luckily for us, Lavigne also shared several photos from the Paris proposal.

The adorable photos show the couple getting engaged smack-dab in front of the Eiffel Tower. How sweet is that? As for Lavigne's engagement ring, it features a beautiful heart-shaped diamond. According to data from the International Gem Society, heart-shaped diamonds aren't one of the most popular engagement ring styles. Instead, the list includes round, square, rectangle, cushion-cut, Asscher-cut, and marquise-cut diamonds. Plus, considering Lavigne's penchant for the grunge aesthetic, a cutesy heart-shaped ring wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but I love it all the same. Scroll down to see the engagement photos and shop for heart jewelry.

After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
