Opulence and Sophistication Are at the Heart of This Oman-Based Fragrance Brand
Have you noticed Arabian fragrances populating your For You page recently? What about your Explore Page? The meteoric rise of these perfumes steeped in history is being majorly backed by fragrance fanatics like me. I've scrolled endlessly through recommendations and reviews to find brands that not only fully embody their history in the production and design of their fragrances but aren't afraid of taking what we know about our favorite perfume notes and spinning them on their head.
Enter House of Amouage. Founded in the Sultanate of Oman in 1983 by the Albusaidi family to be "the gift of kings," Amouage is a High Perfumery House renowned for redefining the Arabian art of perfumery. By bringing innovative modernity and true artistry to all its creations, the brand pays tribute to its heritage while also offering a unique East-meets-West fusion with each fragrance (which are all handmade and composed of high-quality ingredients from around the world). While the brand certainly has its reach globally, Amouage calls Oman its home—a historic trading center for incense and myrrh recognized globally for its contributions to perfumery.
While we definitely can't deny the hold Arabian perfumery has on the beauty side of TikTok at the moment, the history of the practices reach back thousands of years. Amouage upholds this legacy while offering an expansive repertoire of 50 perfumes. Below, we've ID'd the 18 fragrances to get your hands on ASAP.
The Best Amouage Perfumes and Discovery Sets
Key Notes: pepper, rhubarb leaves, jasmine, tuberose, gardenia, lily of the valley, vetiver, frankincense, and leather
White floral fragrances will always be my favorite way to add a touch of elegance to any look. Inspired by the tragic predicament of Madame Butterfly, Honour Woman combines iridescent black pepper and transparent lily of the valley with creamy tuberose, black pepper, and warm amber.
Key Notes: bergamot, saffron, apple, benzoin, myrrh, rose centifolia, geranium, pyrogenic incense, ciste labdanum, leather vitessence
An homage to the modern woman, Overture Woman is a bright bergamot fragrance contrasted by the softness of rose centifolia and an amber, woody base. Trust me when I say this perfume is an altogether sophisticated and heady fragrance that will majorly upgrade any perfume collection.
Key Notes: pink pepper, cardamom oil, jasmine sambac absolute, solar accord, rose absolute, ambergris accord, sandalwood oil
If you're a fan of sun-soaked beach-inspired fragrances that don't include sunscreen as one of their key notes, you'll love Amouage's Ashore as much as I do. A blend of jasmine, ambergris, and sandalwood invoke the sun, sand, and waves while turmeric and cardamom work together to recall the scents of Indian spices.
Key Notes: frankincense, pear, hazelnut, saffron, rose, sambac jasmine, osmanthus, sandalwood, cistus, akigalawood, ambergris, and vanilla
I didn't believe a fragrance could cast a spell over me until I came across Guidance. Rose is beautifully blended with juicy pear, smooth amber, and sense-awakening frankincense for a perfume that exudes elegance. I'm looking forward to spritzing this nonstop throughout spring and summer.
Key Notes: tuberose, gardenia, jasmine, Chantilly cream, vanilla, cedarwood, and sandalwood
Romantic fragrances championing gourmand tuberose notes will always be a favorite of mine, but the subtle sweetness of the pear in this one stands out to me the most. Described by the brand as an ode to falling in love with oneself, it's a sweet and youthful fragrance that sets the standard for all gourmand tuberose perfumes.
Key Notes: Sichuan pepper, ginger, saffron, myrrh essence, frankincense essence, vetiver, patchouli, benzoin, labdanum
In Amouage's Lineage, salty incense and mineral warmth come together to create a fragrance that evokes the personal growth and awareness that can be gained from travel. Ginger, saffron, and myrrh are perfectly combined with spicy Sichuan pepper and patchouli for a perfume that's undeniably unique.
Key Notes: water violet, freesia, tropical green leaves, magnolia, ylang-ylang, jasmine, amber, musk, cedarwood, and sandalwood
If you've been on the hunt for a perfume that's sophisticated and tropical, your search ends here with Amouage's Reflection Woman. The feminine-leaning counterpart of one of the brand's masculine fragrances, this perfume starts crisp and clean before shifting into white florals and earthy musks with warm amber notes.
Key Notes: cherry blossom nectar, rose liquor, ylang-ylang, amaretto accord, vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, cashmeran
The excitement and uncertainty of a first love is captured by Amouage's Blossom Love. Cherry blossom reigns supreme in this one with smooth vanilla, sweet ylang-ylang, cashmeran, and tonka bean following suit. It's able to walk the line between innocent and opulent—perfect for lovers of classic romantic scents in search of their perfect match.
Key Notes: fig, cyclamen, bergamot, bush peach blossom, rose oil, orange flower, white musk, frankincense, vanilla, and cedarwood
Vibrant and sophisticated, Amouage's Dia Woman perfume is the answer to your smoky-floral fragrance prayers. It offers a bright bouquet of floral notes (freshly cut peony, porcelain iris, and vivid orange flower) against a background of juicy wild peach, soapy white musks, and a mildly almond sandalwood.
Key Notes: cinnamon bark essential, rose essential, jujube honey accord base, oakwood, cedarwood atlas oil, and vetiver oil
Normally, I'm not one for fragrances that burst with notes of cinnamon, but this one is versatile enough to wear on the daily without my questioning if my perfume is too intense. The secret lies in the scent's welcoming mix of rose absolute, earthy jujube honey accord, and woods to paint the picture of the Al Hajar mountains' remarkable crimson hues.
Key Notes: lilac accord, peony, heliotrope, gardenia, orris, cocoa bean, tonka bean, sandalwood, patchouli, and vanilla
Another ode to femininity, Lilac Love delivers a brilliant reinvention of the classic lilac fragrances you love with underlying notes of warm cocoa bean, sandalwood, and vanilla. I love how silky and smooth this one is (especially since there's such a strong undercurrent of earthy notes that can be worn year-round).
Key Notes: frankincense, pear, hazelnut, saffron, rose, jasmine sambac, osmanthus, sandalwood, cistus, akigalawood, amergris, and vanilla
Don't let the blue perfume bottle fool you! According to Amouage, Search captures the energy of "resilient minds unafraid to fight their inner darkness to become their ideal self." It's both fruity and woody, with notes of bright pear, sambac jasmine, sandalwood, and amber.
Key Notes: elemi, frankincense, blank ink accord, Damascus rose, suederal, myrrh, vanilla, cedarwood, and sandalwood
Inspired by the uncertainty of the Rosebud mystery in Citizen Kane, Rose Incense has become my favorite floral fragrance from Amouage. It pairs beautifully with the other floral perfumes I have in my collection while standing apart in its own right.
