If You Want to Smell Next-Level Expensive, You Should Probably Know About These Perfumes
One beauty editor shares her favourite perfumes from luxury fragrance house, Creed.

It might be weird, but I like to organise my perfumes into categories based on the way they make me feel. While some might order their collection by scent, such as gourmands and ouds, my perfume wardrobe is shaped entirely by my mood. I have certain scents that I use when I need to feel energized, powerful or fun. On those days when I feel put-together and chic and want to embody my most expensive self, I always reach for a perfume from Creed.
In my opinion, Creed is the Rolls-Royce of the fragrance world. This luxury fragrance house is over 250 years old and loved by royalty. Every scent practically exudes old-money appeal, with a range of artisan perfumes to suit your preferences. While the notes may differ, one thing remains constant: each fragrance smells expensive.
I've tried some of Creed's most popular perfumes.
The downside? They also come with a pretty hefty price tag. While I truly believe that each scent is worth the investment, there's nothing worse than saving for a fragrance and then realising it's not quite right for you. Luckily, I've tried some of Creed's most popular perfumes and have rounded up my top picks below. I've included all the info on what each scent smells like, so you can make an informed decision before heading to checkout. You can thank me later.
The Best Creed Perfumes
- Best fresh perfume: Creed Silver Mountain Water
- Best floral perfume: Creed Eladaria
- Best fruity perfume: Creed Aventus for Her
- Best sensual perfume: Creed Queen of Silk
- Best oud perfume: Creed Oud Zarian
1. Creed Silver Mountain Water
Key notes: Bergamot, mandarin, neroli, sea scent, green tea, blackcurrant bud, sandalwood, musk
First up is my favourite fragrance from the brand. This is the kind of scent that will remain in your collection all year round. It's the ultimate mood-booster, inspired by mountain air and alpine streams. The perfume opens with zingy notes of bergamot, mandarin and neroli. These citrus notes are elevated by a salty aroma that reminds me of a crisp seaside walk, with a hint of green tea adding a wonderfully earthy element. It's a breath of fresh air in a fragrance, grounded by a base of sandalwood and musk that adds this understated luxury to the entire scent.
2. Creed Eladaria
Key notes: Mandarin, pink pepper, rose, lily of the valley, peony, cashmere wood, vanilla, musk
If floral fragrances are more your thing, then you need to have Eladaria on your radar. This is one of the most classic scents in the entire collection, and spritzing it feels like diving headfirst into a bed of pink petals or walking into an old Parisian powder room. Rose and peony add a sweet, heady element, while undertones of cashmere wood and musk linger sensually on the skin. It's incredibly sophisticated, yet it still manages to feel fun and alluring, too.
3. Creed Aventus for Her
Key notes: Green apple, violet leaf, pink pepper, bergamot, rose, sandalwood, peach, cassis, ylang ylang, amber
When I need to feel empowered, there's only one fragrance that I reach for, and that fragrance is Aventus for Her. You know that trusty black blazer in the back of your wardrobe? The one that makes you feel chic and composed? Well, this is the perfume equivalent. The combination of juicy fruits, heady florals and fresh citrus notes creates a strong, complex, feminine scent that enters a room long before you do, and continues to make an impact long after you've left. It's an iconic fresh perfume.
4. Creed Queen of Silk
Key notes: Chinese osmanthus, magnolia, saffron, tuberose, patchouli, vanilla, incense, myrrh, musk
This is usually my date-night fragrance as I can't get enough of the sweet, sensual scent. It feels like slipping a slinky, silky dress over freshly lotioned skin, before heading to a hazy bar for a rum-filled cocktail. It has lots of layers, with a soft, creamy opening of Chinese osmanthus, which is quickly interrupted by the sweetness of the magnolia. Patchouli and incense soon reveal a hidden depth, adding a musky, smoky base that makes you feel dizzy in the best way possible.
5. Creed Oud Zarian
Key notes: Bergamot, frankincense, ginger, rose, oud, patchouli, sandalwood, myrrh, liquorice root, tonka bean
This fragrance was recommended to me by Who What Wear's beauty director Shannon Lawlor, and since giving it a sniff, I can't get it out of my head. "A deep, wintery delight, Creed Oud Zarian is a scent to have on your radar this autumn/winter," Lawlor tells me. "As someone who doesn't wear much oud (I'm one of those people who finds it overwhelming), I can't put into words just how special this scent is. Yes, it's oudy, and obviously so, but after just a few moments of being around it, you realise quite quickly that it doesn't impede on your space in the way a typical oud fragrance might. It has a fresh, zesty bite at the top, thanks to ginger and bergamot, and the animalic oud is wrapped up in a richly powdered smokiness of rose. Throw in some tonka bean and patchouli for good measure, and what you have is a scent that smells like the most expensive aroma in the world."
