PSA: Only Wear This Fragrance Note If You Want to Feel Energized, Enlightened, and Enchanted
There's nothing chicer than a cozy tea-infused perfume.

A little-known fact about me is that I spent the first years of life outside of the U.S. in a charming English countryside town. I have very limited memories of it (I've mostly learned about my time spent there with the help of old family photographs and videos), but there's one thing I definitely carried with me from my toddler years spent overseas: a love for the art of making tea. To this day, I pause to treat myself to a cup of tea every afternoon, preferring herbal over black. However, my adoration for this routine now extends beyond what I can slip into a delicate teacup.
Without even meaning to do it, I've edited my perfume collection to scents with tea notes. Over time, I've noticed how much more my days reflect the benefits of these notes. For example, when I use a perfume with green tea, I feel centered and energized, and with white, there's a definite sense of calm and cleanliness that takes over. While I don't usually drink black tea, I do find that wearing perfumes with black tea notes gives me a confidence boost and adds a hint of edge to my outfits. No matter what tea-infused scent I decide to go with, I'm happy with my choice.
Keep scrolling to see which tea perfumes I've fallen in love with and what makes them so special. For best results, make sure you have a cup of tea in hand, and keep the other one ready to screenshot for inspiration.

Le Monde Gourmand Chai Épicé Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: warm spices
Notes: violet fig, muguet musk, blonde woods
When I'm thinking about purchasing a black tea fragrance, the first thing I consider is its wearability year-round. I prefer a scent that falls under this category to have other notes that add some versatility as warm days shift to cold, allowing it to be the perfect pick for every season. My first pick from Le Monde Gourmand, Chai Épicé, accomplishes this by balancing spicy muguet musk with crisp violet fig and a base of blonde woods. While black tea isn't used as a note, the warm, creamy blend of all the others smells exactly like a chai latte.
Customer Review: "I love this fragrance! This is warm, spicy, and just a comforting scent. I feel it's perfect for fall to winter but definitely could work well for any season especially when layered with other Le Monde Gourmand scents. Love pairing this with [Crème Vanille]. This is definitely one of my go-to fragrances though."
Le Monde Gourmand Thé Matcha Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: amber floral
Notes: green tea, freesia, amber
If aromatic, green fragrances are more your vibe (and you happen to be a matcha fan), you'll want to get your hands on Le Monde Gourmand's Thé Matcha. Crafted with herbal notes of green tea, this perfume captures the calm that follows in the moments after drinking a cup of green tea by combining it with freesia wrapped in smooth amber for added warmth. Whenever I spritz it before beginning my day, I feel calm, serene, and ready for anything.
Customer Review: "I initially tried The Matcha in the discovery set from Le Monde Gourmand, and I actually cannot get enough of it. I love layering this perfume with other floral scents (specifically lavender and white floral). This scent definitely does not have the same grassiness that actual matcha has, but it is a very clean and fresh smell. I absolutely love!"
Korres White Tea Eau de Toilette
Scent Type: citrus floral
Notes: bergamot, neroli, mandarin, jasmine, peony, white tea, freesia, cedarwood, oakmoss, musk
While I have mixed feelings about the taste of white tea (especially those blends that lean more fruity than fresh), I don't have any hesitation about wearing a scent that includes it. The White Tea Eau de Toilette by Korres offers delicate white tea paired with juicy citrus notes and a dusting of white florals before unfolding into the warmth of cedarwood, oakmoss, and musk. In the end, we have a scent that's inviting and energizing. It also layers beautifully with other fresh floral fragrances.
Customer Review: "This scent is a classic light and floral essence that smells so lovely. It is not overpowering, and I've gotten many compliments when wearing it. The smell beautifully evolves throughout the day and gets lighter as the day goes on. Truly an elegant and classy scent."
d'Annam Monsoon Tea Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: green citrus
Notes: green tea, bergamot, lily of the valley, petitgrain, musk
Okay, I'll admit it—I've been gatekeeping the Monsoon Tea Eau de Parfum like it's my job. The perfume paints the ideal picture of sipping green tea in the minutes after a rainstorm. This one uses Vietnamese green tea, which is created by selecting young tea leaves and setting them to a swift boil for a light, vibrant drink. According to the perfumer notes provided by the brand, it's an homage to green tea's ability to promote clarity and freshness.
Customer Review: "This is a refreshingly cozy green tea scent with bright citrus and dry vetiver. It opens with a splash of lime with leafy green freshness followed by the smell of tea leaves and clean florals. This is a very naturalistic and unsweetened cup of green tea, freshly brewed, the warmth coming from amber-y musks and woodiness in the base. An overall enjoyable tea scent."
d'Annam Matcha Soft Serve Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: sweet gourmand
Notes: matcha, milk, waffle cone, vanilla
Looking for a matcha-inspired fragrance that balances its crisp green tea notes with mouthwatering gourmands? d'Annam's Matcha Soft Serve is one of those fragrances that just works. It opens with pure matcha, then shifts into familiar notes of cozy milk, sugary waffle cone, and warm vanilla. It's also worth noting that there's also something slightly green and earthy about how it finishes, which can be attributed to the strong green tea notes.
Customer Review: "A photorealistic matcha—like you're whisking it right in front of you. The opening of this perfume starts off with an incredible replication of real matcha that I love. As it dries down and throughout wearing it, this perfume becomes a little sweeter, and you get the subtle undertones of vanilla peeking through. Such a cozy and nostalgic smell for me and i adore it. Easily became one of my favorite perfumes at first sniff. much love!"
Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 + Black Tea Eau de Toilette
Scent Type: green woods
Notes: Iso E Super, black tea
I've enthused about Escentric Molecules' ultra-unique, science-forward fragrance offerings in the past, so it was only right to give its Molecule 01 + Black Tea Eau de Toilette some love. What you need to know about this scent is that it has black tea from dried camellia sinensis leaves with Iso E Super (a synthetic molecule with a cedarwood tonality). The finished composition is a black tea and maté tea absolue with bitter-fresh notes and a hint of florals.
Customer Review: "This is a beautiful tea fragrance. I love its minimalist approach, which highlights the tea notes. It has a robust, camphorous opening that smooths out into a soothing and transparent tea aroma with a cedar-like Iso E Super base containing aspects of ambergris, vetiver, and patchouli. It's very wearable and unisex. I love green fragrances, and the tea notes in this one are abundantly so."
Bulgari Eau Parfumée Thé Vert Eau de Toilette
Scent Type: aromatic citrus
Notes: neroli petal accord, green tea extract
This was the first green scent I was introduced to at the beginning of my career as a beauty editor, and it's remained one of my favorites. The aromatic citrus fragrance opens with powdery, fresh notes of neroli petal accord punctuated by notes of green tea extract. It's a fresh, lively twist on green tea that captures the serenity of green tea with an enchanting floral touch. It has a permanent spot on my vanity when it's not being borrowed by family.
Customer Review: "I treated myself to this scent without knowing how it would smell. Based on the name I thought it would be fresh and green. I was right... it is lovely, fresh, natural and invigorating. If you, like me, love the smell of freshly cut grass, then you will like this perfume too."
Bulgari Eau Parfumée Thé Blanc Eau de Toilette
Scent Type: floral woods
Notes: Chinese white tea extract, white musk accord
While a green tea fragrance may offer a sense of calmness and serenity to its wearer, white tea can evoke cleanliness and tranquility. Its slightly sweet and floral aroma is present in Bulgari's Eau Parfumée Thé Blanc Eau de Toilette. Formulated by master perfumer Jacques Cavallier, it includes Chinese white tea extract complemented by sensual soft woods and white musk. It's the perfume I choose when I want to feel clean and put-together, making this this the perfect clean girl pick.
Customer Review: "This is one of those soft, clean scents that just makes you feel put together. It smells like fresh linen and a quiet spa day—calming, gentle, and really elegant. I wear it when I want something understated but still feel polished. It doesn’t scream for attention, but I always feel good wearing it."
Liis Ethereal Wave Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: aromatic green
Notes: bergamot, cardamom, white tea, black tea absolute, blonde woods, velvet musk
Of all the tea perfumes I've fallen in love with throughout my career, there are very few I struggle to describe. Liis's Ethereal Wave is one of those (but for all the right reasons). Inspired by opposites, this angelic perfume opens with notes of bergamot and cardamom and has a heart of white tea and black tea absolute. Its warm and smooth base is punctuated with blonde woods and luscious, velvety musk. It's the unique combination of white and black teas that stands out the most for me.
Customer Review: "I ordered a sample the moment I heard about the new release and then ordered a full size bottle the same day I received my sample. It is fresh and light and gently sweet, but the nutmeg note is just breathtaking and it grounds the fragrance. This is my new signature scent, knocking a long-time niche favorite out of the top spot. Liis really got it right with Ethereal Wave. Stunning. I will absolutely be re-purchasing another bottle."
Voyages Imaginaires Tea Rock'n Roll Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: aromatic citrus
Notes: bergamot, tea, maté, tonka bean
Inspired by "swinging England," Voyages Imaginaires' Tea Rock'n Roll Eau de Parfum celebrates the modern-day dandy. Think steaming cups of Earl Grey tea and top hats paired with short hems and electric guitars. Formulated by perfumer Isabelle Doyen, the perfume combines bright bergamot with tea. Next, we're introduced to an earthy, smoky maté note before it reveals a base of subtly spicy tonka bean. If you're looking for a bold perfume that will earn you endless compliments, this is it.
Customer Review: "Lovely light tea fragrance. Starts with strong bergamot and reminds me of smelling my tea jar with loose Earl Grey tea but in the dry down it continues being aromatic with the addition of a light smoky note. Sits close to skin and would work perfectly as a fresh, clean scent for work, a hot summer's day or after a shower. The smoke keeps it in niche territory."
Le Labo Thé Noir 29 Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: warm spices
Notes: bergamot, bay leaves, black tea, fig, hay, tobacco, cedarwood, vetiver, musk
Here's a perfume that strikes the perfect balance between being warm and fresh. Thé Noir 29 is perhaps one of the most well-known tea fragrances, and it remains one of the best in my book. Not only does this scent include four of my favorite nice notes in in its lineup (bay leaves, fig, hay, and tobacco), but it's also a spicy tea perfume that's both warm and cool with savory black tea. Plus, I love Le Labo's antique-inspired perfume bottles, so you can bet Thé Noir 29 stays on display.
Customer Review: "This is my favorite scent to wear day/night, any occasion. It's neutral enough to be subtle and understated, but I've always been complimented on it by anyone standing nearby. it's a muskier scent, I wouldn't describe it as light or airy, but it's beautiful and weighed down by heavy teas and bergamot. It reminds me of whiskey and tobacco, though it smells like neither."
Régime des Fleurs Little Flower Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: floral woods
Notes: black currant bud, pomelo, peony, Ottoman rose, honeysuckle, black tea, bleeding heart, palo santo, guaiac wood, musk
Made in collaboration with Chloë Sevigny, Régime des Fleurs' Little Flower Eau de Parfum is the perfect example of how black tea fragrances can read more floral and woodsy than anything else. Juicy and aromatic, it's a rose-forward scent that layers citrus and floral notes with black tea and wood for a perfume that's effortlessly cool. According to Régime des Fleurs' perfumer and founder, it took a year and half and 33 different versions to land on the iteration of this scent we get to enjoy today.
Customer Review: "Captures the essence of a fresh dewy rose, but it’s more interesting than a typical rose-forward floral. Might be my favorite collection of notes; lush black currant to sweeten the rose and pomelo for brightness, peony and honeysuckle to add floral depth that isn’t too heavy, black tea and palo santo for a smooth base. Everything works together as a delicate symphony; springtime femininity at its finest. I wore this for my April wedding in the mountains and it was perfect for the occasion."
Kilian Bamboo Harmony Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: green citrus
Notes: bitter orange, mimosa, white tea leaves
Have you ever noticed how well white tea goes with juicy citrus notes? It's a bright and refreshing combination that always enchants and awakens the senses. Bamboo Harmony by Kilian features a blend of bright bitter orange with opulent mimosa and white tea leaves. It also includes a hint of woods, keeping the fragrance grounded. This is one floral and fresh fragrance everyone needs to add to their daily rotation.
Customer Review: "The tea and citrus combo in this is to die for. It wears so beautifully on both men and women, and has great longevity for a fresh fragrance. The addition of soft woods in the base provides for an incredible experience. This fragrance is such a unique take on a floral-fresh combo, and it’s has become one of my top five all time fragrances.. I will always have a bottle (and a backup)."
Parfums de Marly Meliora Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: fruity floral
Notes: red berries, raspberry, lemon essence, rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine tea, vanilla, musk, cedarwood
Sometimes, I just need a spritz of a fruity floral fragrance as the finishing touch for any outfit. Parfums de Marly's Meliora Eau de Parfum is one of my favorites and uses jasmine tea (which is usually green tea scented with jasmine blossoms). It also includes a blooming bouquet of rose and ylang-ylang with zesty lemon essence, red berries, and raspberries. The fragrance unfurls to reveal a base of musk, cedarwood, and sheer musk.
Customer Review: "This is one of my favorite sense from Parfums de Marly. this is an absolutely beautiful vanilla fragrance with fresh red berries. Every time I wear this, it puts me in a dreamy state. It projects really really beautifully off my skin and creates a really beautiful, soft vanilla aura with a sparkling feel to it. most people go crazy for Delina, but in my opinion, this is one of the best [scents] from the house."
Vilhelm Parfumerie Dear Polly Eau de Parfum
Scent Type: citrus floral
Notes: bergamot, apple, Ceylon black tea, oakmoss, musk, black amber
Lastly, I'm convinced everyone should try Vilhelm Parfumerie's Dear Polly Eau de Parfum. At its heart is Ceylon black tea with floral and citrus notes against slightly smoky undertones, but the perfume also features sweet and sticky fruit notes and warm musk, moss, and black amber. It's a fresh and cozy scent that transports me to the British countryside, where a steaming cup of tea and fluffy cucumber sandwich awaits. Cheers!
Customer Review: "It sounds as if you were in summer cottage and your grandma brewed you a strong black tea. A warm enveloping fragrance with the first notes of bergamot awakens in you dear memories from your childhood. After a while, the fragrance opens up with unsweetened green citrus notes.I would like to purchase this fragrance in full size."
