The Unofficial Diptyque Gift Guide: 13 Chic Fragrances, Candles, and Home Goods on My List This Holiday Season
These items are the epitome of elegance.
Diptyque is eternally chic. Its relevance doesn't fluctuate with time or depend on trends. It rests on its own elegance, and like so many other French brands, it whispers rather than shouts. It's been top of mind for me this year as I ponder which gifts to give to my loved ones.
Maybe it's because I turned 30 this year, or maybe it's because I'm becoming more aware of my own consumption, but I'm only interested in giving gifts that feel special, elevated, and timeless this year. (Gone are the days of buying cheap, soon-to-be-broken trinkets or presents that have a high return potential!) I want my loved ones to cherish their gifts, whether that means spritzing a luxurious perfume through to the very last drop or burning an aromatic candle down to the smoking stub...and maybe even cleaning the jar afterward to use as a makeup brush holder. Regardless, Diptyque is the answer to all my gift-giving desires. Ahead, see the fragrances, candles, and home goods at the top of my holiday list.
This year, Diptyque's holiday collection is centered around a Parisian bookshop, hence the ink-scrawled pages and gold-foil packaging. It's so chic and whimsical that you don't even have to wrap it—not this box of five votive candles, at least. It includes five of the French fragrance houses' most beloved scents, including 34 Boulevard Saint Germain, Amber, Berries, Roses, and Narguilé.
What's even more chic and special than gifting a Diptyque candle? The answer is gifting a Diptyque match cloche along with it. It's flame-blown and hand-crafted in Italy, and the cork top has a striking surface to light the matches. Fashion people would be proud to place this front and center on their coffee tables.
I had the privilege of using this hand soap in a fancy hotel in Paris, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since, especially because I'm a big believer that investing in a luxury hand soap is the easiest way to elevate a bathroom.
Hear me out. A Diptyque Car Diffuser might just be the most stylish gift to give that hard-to-shop-for man in your life (or anyone, for that matter). I recommend purchasing the scent Figuier (or fig tree). It's a fresh, woody, and slightly "green" fragrance—perfect for freshening up your transportation.
Solid perfume is another unique option, and I think it's devastatingly chic. This scent, Fleur de Peau, features a sultry mix of iris, musk, and pink peppercorn that will have people leaning in and wanting more. It's refillable, alcohol-free, and ready to wear on the wrist, neck, or décolleté. Simply apply it with your fingertips. It will envelop your skin in a sophisticated scent.
If there's one traditional fragrance I'd recommend above all others right now, it would be Diptyque's Orphéon. Inspired by jazz clubs in the heart of Paris's Saint-Germain quarter, this certifiably cool scent features notes of polished wood (symbolic of the iconic Orphéon Bar) and tonka bean (symbolic of curling tobacco smoke). A light touch of jasmine lends it a lively effervescence that evokes the lilting music floating out into the street from the clubs' doors.
