I Go Weak for Expensive-Smelling Body Mists—These New Summer Scents are the Best Yet
Sol de Janeiro's new Mistica collection offers three unique takes on summer fragrance.

Few brands can boast such a loyal following as Sol De Janeiro. Whether it’s the cult Bum Bum cream, their glossy hair oil or the iconic perfume mists, the Brazilian-inspired beauty brand has amassed an impressive following since launching in 2015—a following I am proud to be a part of, I have to say.
And, while you can often find me slathering on the body creams (or my latest body care favourite, the Beija Flor Body Oil), it’s the perfumes that always get me the most excited. Housed in candy-coloured tubes, Sol de Janeiro’s perfume mists always promise the most delicious scent—one I usually can’t wait to get my hands on and douse myself in.
In light of this, I’ve amassed quite a collection over the years, and I’m not ashamed to say I’ve become somewhat of a connoisseur. From the sugary-sweet gourmand notes of Cheirosa 71 to the creamy caress of Cheirosa 59, Sol de Janeiro’s mists are some of my most loved fragrances. Add to that that each of these scents comes in at under £25, and I’d argue you won’t find harder-working, more expensive-smelling fragrances in my well-rounded perfume collection.
Of course, that means when Sol de Janeiro launches a new fragrance, I usually find myself running to get my hands on it, and this summer, the brand has well and truly spoiled us. The limited-edition Mistica collection features three scents designed to channel three different summer fragrance moods.
Now that the sun has finally made an appearance, I’ve had a chance to put all three to the test. Whether you’re an existing fan or new to the brand, let me tell you, you’re going to want to get your hands on these.
1. Sol De Janeiro Flor Mistica Perfume Mist
Key notes: Coconut water, orange blossom, white rose, palm, musk
The most delicious holiday perfume, Flor Mistica makes for a great addition to your summer perfume rotation. A coconut perfume at its core, it’s sweet and creamy yet with a lightness that makes it so easy to wear.
Alongside the tropical note, you’ll also find white florals and rose, which work to elevate the coconut pairing. In my opinion, this is the perfect mist for popping in your beach bag—summer-inspired, yet not overpowering in its execution.
2. Sol de Janeiro Danca Mistica Perfume Mist
Key notes: Fig, champagne, green pear, orris, vanilla, amber
While many of Sol de Janeiro’s mists have sweet, gourmand scents, Danca Mistica is a much fresher perfume offering. Green and juicy, it’s bursting with moreish fig and pear notes which smell almost crisp in their opening. As it sits on the skin, however, creamier notes of vanilla and amber start to creep in, rounding out the bright opening and turning the scent into something softer and cosier.
If you’ve previously found Sol de Janiero’s mists too sweet, this is a great one to try, as it’s not sugary or heavy yet still smells warm and comforting.
3. Sol De Janeiro Agua Mistica Perfume Mist
Key notes: Tangerine, pineapple, neroli, jasmine, salt, skin
Salty skin meets zesty citrus notes in Agua Mistica, the final perfume mist in the new limited-edition collection. Described as fresh and invigorating, this is a mist that doesn’t evoke lazy days on the beach or sundowner cocktails, but instead it’s a summer scent that feels much more energizing.
It’s salty sea water and fruit dripping down your chin as you bite into it. It’s messy and alive and perfect for wearing on busy summer days.

The original perfume mist features the same drool-worthy scent as the Bum Bum cream that started it all.
This is, hands down, the most expensive-smelling perfume mist around.
My personal favourite Sol De Janeiro mist, Cheirosa 59 blends creamy vanilla with powdery violet notes.
The combination of amber, blackcurrant and vanilla makes this a great day-to-night fragrance.
