The Results Are In, and Our Haircuts Are Booked—Discover the 11 Bob Trends Officially Defining 2025
There's nothing chicer than a short, cropped look.

As we look back at the biggest hair trends of 2025 that the fashion crowd has embraced, there's one look that has kept our attention season to season: the bob cut. Celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Gigi Hadid, and Taylor Hill all stepped into the year with stylish, short crops that seemingly went viral the second they were posted to their personal pages. The effortless bobs popping up on our For You and Explore pages have provided an endless source of inspiration that we haven't been able to stop screenshotting for when we finally book our haircut appointments.
This time around, we're sharing some of the top bob looks we've been saving all year as reference pictures for our stylists along with a few trendy cuts a celebrity hairstylist says have been requested by his celebrity clientele and the best products to have in your lineup for post-appointment maintenance.
Why Wear a Bob?
It's no secret that eye-catching short crops (especially chin- and shoulder-lengths styles) have been on the rise among Instagram's and TikTok's fashion crowd, but they're also being spotted on celebrities, from Hadid and Hill to Ryan Destiny and Bieber. What is it about these short styles that is so enticing this year? According to celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, the current infatuation boils down to the lack of styling and product required for their upkeep and their versatility. "People want bold, low-maintenance cuts that feel both powerful and expressive. There's also a shift toward haircuts that grow out beautifully between salon visits," he explains.
When bobs are cut and styled correctly, they can serve as a frame for your facial features and add an extra touch of elegance or edge to your overall look. If you've noticed that more people tend to reach for the shears as a new year rolls around and again as spring and summer kick off, it's because the style is one of the easiest ways you can restart the health journey of your tresses without removing too much length. Then when you're ready to grow out your bob, you can keep your style looking fresh with a little trim here and there.
What Makes Bobs Different?
If you're deciding between an on-trend bob and another short crop, defer to the recommendation of your stylist and consider what you want the overall appearance of your strands to be. There are a number of differences between shag cuts, wolf cuts, bobs, and pixies, but Giannetos recommends paying attention to your desired results. "[Bobs are] softer, more textured, and more personalized. It's less about perfection—more about personality and ease," he says. Choosing what type of bob to go for can be challenging without sources of inspiration to refer to and show your stylist when the big day comes.
Luckily for you, we've got everything covered. Keep scrolling to check out the bob styles that have dominated 2025 so far, according to Giannetos (he's the mastermind behind some of them) and the most fashionable people on our For You pages. Once you land on the cut you're after, shop all the must-have products on the market to keep your strands looking salon fresh long after the shears have been put away and salon cape has been taken off.
2025's Top Bob Hairstyles
Baroque Bob
If it's flowing layers, movement, and volume you're after, the baroque bob might be to your liking. We first spotted this hairstyle last spring on celebs like Zendaya and Laura Harrier, and it's certainly stuck around this year. Named after the romantic, elaborate hairstyles of the highly stylized baroque period (the early 17th century until the 1750s), this short cut puts emphasis on body and movement with the big, bouncy, brushed-out curls that define it.

Luxe Bob
Bieber might be in the process of growing out her hair now, but just this spring, she was wearing an ultra-glossy, collarbone-brushing bob. The aptly named cut conveys a sense of luxury with a voluminous blow-dry, sleek lines, and a high-shine finish. It's cut at the jawline and tends to be bouncy with long, soft layers. Stay away from anything choppy and textured. It may be a little more high-maintenance than your everyday bob, but it's also polished and chic.

Bixie Bob
Alternately, if you want a cut that highlights your natural hair texture rather than decadent curls and length, a bixie may be the best fit for your sensibilities. According to Giannetos, it combines the best parts of a bob and pixie—the body and movement of the former with the length of the latter—celebrating texture and individuality. Hill is one of our biggest sources of inspiration for the cut, as she's worn it in various ways for the past two years.

Flipped Bob
We've also been looking to Hadid for trendy cuts, and we're partial to this fun flipped bob created for her by Giannetos. "It gives '90s supermodel energy," he explains. Flipped bobs draw their inspiration from the center-parted styles with upturned ends of the '60s but have a sleek, modern touch. Whether you go for a dramatic curve or the gentle suggestion of a flick, this playful style will definitely earn you more than a couple compliments.

Tucked Bob
Spotted on the likes of Destiny, Hadid, and Lily Collins, the tucked bob has been making a comeback over recent months. It's frequently created with a cut at one length or lightly layered, then secured behind the ears. Not only is this style easy to achieve when you're short on time for styling, but it also works well on all hair types and textures, including protective styles cut to a bob. We love seeing this style with a slight curl and finishing gel to hold strands in place, as pictured above.

Italian Bob
Giannetos tells us the Italian bob is "blunt, voluminous, slightly rounded—very polished. It's classic but feels fresh with minimal styling." This breezy, chin-skimming bob is big on volume, movement, and body, making it easy to style and maintain with the right products. It has a blunt cut with face-framing strands and light layers, and it looks especially stunning with lived-in soft waves and curls.

Baby Bob
How stunning is this cropped hairstyle created by Renato Campora for Halle Berry for this year's Cannes Film Festival? Giannetos tells us this look is the baby bob, a short bob for curls. Like the bixie, this bob is a perfect way to celebrate natural hair textures and individuality. We're especially in love with the deep side part and face-framing strands worn by Berry as she stepped onto the red carpet.

Asymmetrical Bob
Yellowstone's Kelsey Asbille is no stranger to a short crop (she's worn a few memorable bobs and pixie cuts over the years), but this textured, asymmetrical look keeps us coming back when we're on the hunt for an edgy take on a classic cut. "One side [is] longer [and] gives movement and edge. It's editorial without trying too hard," says Giannetos. Striking and stylish, this low-maintenance bob is incredibly cool.

French Bob
The French bob is one of the more traditional bobs we've been seeing on fashion people this year, and adding an unexpected texture, cut, or color can shake things up. Lucy Hale has been wearing one of the most recognizable French bobs in Hollywood for years, and she just changed the color of her tresses from black to a stunning sun-kissed brown. The no-fuss hairstyle is usually characterized by a sharp cut, ultra-sleek strands, and a relaxed wave that embraces natural texture.

Sleek Bob
What's chicer than an effortless haircut that looks like you've just stepped off the runway? It's a blunt cut that can be coaxed into a sleek, polished finish with the help of styling gel, hair oil, and shine spray for a silky-smooth look. It can be dressed up and down and works well for most hair textures. (Anyone with tight curls or coils may have to put a little more muscle into smoothing strands down from root to tip.)

Micro Bob
Rose Byrne attended the 13th annual CNN Heroes gala with an icy-blonde micro bob created by Harry Josh. Giannetos tells us that this haircut is chin-length or shorter with no layers and a sharp cut. "It's the boldest way to show off your bone structure," he explains. Josh's take on this style for Byrne is slightly tucked, allowing her facial features to take center stage.
