This £9 Product Is My Secret to a Naturally Glowy Makeup Look
Sharply contoured makeup looks were all the rage a few years ago thanks to the likes of Kim Kardashian and Hailey Bieber, but there's no denying that there's been a shift in the beauty industry over the last couple of months. These days, people are definitely opting for more naturally sculpted finishes, and I can totally see why.
As someone who likes quick, easy and minimal makeup looks, I simply don't have the time to be carving out my cheekbones and jawline every single morning. Not only that, but after trying out a range of matte bronzing sticks, I found that they all made my complexion look a little flat. So, when I got my hands on the Elf Halo Glow Beauty Wands, it was pretty much love at first sight.
If you're yet to come across these TikTok-famous products, let me introduce you to your new makeup bag essential. These clever wands can be used as contour, blusher and highlighter, and all work to add subtle definition and a dewy, glowing finish. Forget thick, heavy bronzing sticks that are hard to blend, as these lightweight formulas practically melt into the skin. Oh, and did I mention that they are only £9?
With makeup trends such as "glowtouring" currently taking over my TikTok feed (yes, that's glowy contouring if you didn't know), I thought it was only right that I did a full, in-depth review of these products to help you understand why they get so much hype. So, what are you waiting for? Keep on scrolling for everything you need to know...
Elf Halo Glow Beauty Wand Review
The Formula
Let's talk a little bit about the formula. The products are infused with squalane which works to hydrate and smooth the skin, helping to give your complexion that dewy, luminous finish. The formula itself is so easy to blend and all of the shades are super buildable depending on how natural you want your makeup to look. If you're wondering how many shades there are, you can currently choose from six blush colours, five contour shades and three highlighter options.
The Packaging
Now, onto the packaging. As the name suggests, these products come in an easy-to-use "wand" style applicator. The end of the applicator features a cushion-tip which means you can apply the product straight onto the skin. However, what really stood out to me when using the product is how small the cushion-tip is. Some might say that this is a bad thing, but I personally found it much easier to apply the contour, blush and highlighter onto precise areas of my face, helping to give that naturally defined look.
The Application
As mentioned above, the cushion-tip means that these products can be applied directly onto the skin. After watching lots of "glowtouring" tutorials on TikTok, I applied the bronzer in a sideways "W" shape to the side of my face, starting at my forehead, coming in at my cheekbone and ending along my jawline. Then, I took a large stippling brush and started to blend.
I'm not lying when I say that the product blended out in about five seconds straight. In fact, it probably took me around 20 seconds in total to contour my whole face, and the blush and highlighter wands were just as quick.
The Verdict
Before Using The Elf Halo Glow Beauty Wand
After Using The Elf Halo Glow Beauty Wand
As you can see from the pictures above, these wands are ideal for those of you who want a naturally defined makeup look and a subtle glow to the skin. They are definitely not for those of you who prefer a sharp, sculpted look, but if TikTok is anything to go by, we will all be opting for a "glowtoured" finish this spring and summer.
Pros: Super affordable, quick and easy to use, buildable shades and creates a naturally defined, glowy look
Cons: Not ideal for those of you who prefer a sharp contour or matte finish
