I Just Tried an LED Mask for Your Neck (Yes, Really)—These Are My Honest Thoughts
The appetite for skincare tools has skyrocketed over the last few years, and now it seems that there is a gadget for pretty much everything. Blackheads? There's a tool for that. Acne? There's a tool for that. Puffiness? Yep, there's a tool for that. However, one thing I never thought I'd be writing about was a skincare tool for your neck. Yep, I'm talking about an LED neck mask. In particular, the FAQ 211 Anti-Ageing LED Neck Décolleté Mask that I have been testing for the past couple of weeks.
Funnily enough, after telling my friends and family that I was trying out an LED neck mask they all asked me if they could give it a go. As it turns out, a lot of us have concerns about the skin around that area, from breakouts to fine lines and loss of firmness.
So, it makes sense that one of the leading LED brands on the market has created a tool specifically designed to minimise the appearance of fine lines, target acne, sun damage and boost elasticity. But how does this mask actually work? Is it worth the investment? Most importantly, how on earth do you wear it around your neck? I decided to give it a go in order to answer these questions, so keep on scrolling for everything you need to know...
FAQ 211 Anti-Ageing LED Neck Décolleté Mask Review
The Technology
First things first, let's talk a little bit about the technology. If you didn't know, FAQ is owned by Swedish skincare brand FOREO, so you can trust that the tech is going to be good. This clever mask comes with eight different wavelengths of LED light to target a range of skincare concerns. Red light promotes collagen, blue light reduces breakouts, green light evens skin tone, purple light tackles hyperpigmentation, yellow light reduces redness, orange light improves skin texture, cyan LED light calms skin and near-infrared light helps improve fine lines and sun spots. Not only that, but the mask features 761 points of light to ensure even coverage on the skin.
The tool itself is super lightweight and wireless so that you can wear it while going about your day. It has a dual-wear design to target the front and the back of your neck, and it's made of flexi-fit silicone to fit your body perfectly. If that wasn't enough, you can also download the app and control the mask from your phone. Pretty clever, right?
How to Use a Neck LED Mask
As you can probably tell from above, this mask is incredibly easy to use. At first I thought it could be a bit of a faff, but I was pleasantly surprised by how simple it was. It comes with a very chic adjustable gold chain that you use to secure the mask around your neck (a little bit like a necklace) and it honestly feels like you are barely wearing anything thanks to the sleek design.
Once the mask is secured in place, you simply press the power button in the centre and press the button again to change the LED setting depending on what skincare concern you want to focus on. If you want to use a pre-programmed treatment you can access this via the app. The brand advises using the mask for up to 15 minutes so you don't need to set aside a lot of time for this.
What I love most about this mask is that once you've selected your desired treatment, you can go about your day. I personally find facial LED masks a little bit restricting, but I can wear this while getting ready for work in the morning (as you can see below) which means it's easy to fit into my daily routine.
The Results
So, does this mask actually work? As someone who suffers with breakouts on both the front and back of my neck, I tested the blue light for two weeks and have already seen a slight improvement. I've been impressed with how quickly it is working, and can honestly say that it is one of the easiest skincare tools I have ever used. Do I look a little weird wearing it around my house? Yes. But is it worth it? I think so.
That being said, this mask is definitely not cheap. At £379, I'd say that it's only worth the investment if you have multiple concerns that you want to address and are willing to use the tool consistently over time in order to see results. If you're someone that prefers a simple skincare routine, then this probably isn't the product for you.
I would also like to note that there are other, more affordable products on the market that can help address similar concerns, but if you're a fan of LED treatments, this is such a great at-home option.
