We Try Before You Buy: 8 Coat Trends Our Editors Love

Our We Try Before You Buy series aims to take the stress out of shopping and eliminate the number of post office visits you make each month to return failed online orders. We test new-season buys and styling ideas so you don’t have to. Here, we’re letting you know what’s actually worth investing in.

This time of year, the biggest wardrobe decision on most of our minds is Which coat should I buy? As fashion editors, it’s one of the most common questions we get asked as soon as the leaves start to turn. We don’t blame anyone for asking—it can be quite overwhelming. That’s why our latest We Try Before You Buy was an obvious choice. We called in as many coats as we could fit in the fashion cupboard and tried them all on in order to find the best options across this season’s biggest trends for all budgets.

As self-confessed outerwear addicts, this task was hardly a chore, and more than one may have ended up in our online shopping baskets by the end of the day. Amongst our favourites, you’ll find everything from the most talked-about coats (yes, that J.W. Anderson trench does live up to the hype), brand-new styles (Kitri’s recent drop has us all majorly excited) and some unexpected heroes (Mint Velvet’s snake-print trench, anyone?) Keep scrolling to see and shop our editors’ top picks from the biggest coat trends of 2019.
