I've Done the Research—This Is the Fresh Coat Trend Dominating This Winter
All editors and influencers agree: Dopamine dressing is a thing. If you put on clothes that make you feel as good as you look, then you're bound to be happier, right? One of our favourite fashion influencers, Zeena Shah, even created the viral hashtag #ColourMeUpMonday to make Mondays, well, less Monday-like by donning a splash of colour to help brighten up the day.
And what better time to start dipping your toe into this fun and playful trend? Over the last week, the weather has certainly turned, and while we teeter on the edge of the festive period, I certainly feel it's the perfect opportunity to turn up the colourful dial. And if your typical winter wardrobe, like mine, is full of greys, whites, blacks and beiges, then a colourful addition can be just the ticket to help transform a wintery look into something truly uplifting. The key to this is an amazing coat. Trust me when I say that it's all about bright, bold statement outerwear this season, and in my eyes, the more colourful the better.
Thankfully, plenty of our favourite high-street brands and high-end designers have created some joyous outerwear for us this season. Whether you wear your coat over your classics or pair it with other brights, it's sure to add a spring to your step. Head to Massimo Dutti for a delightfully zesty tailored version, look to The Row for a subtle pale-yellow iteration and check out Arket for the colourful update of its iconic puffers.
Minimalists, look away; maximalists, rejoice. I'm about to show you the winter coats that are guaranteed to lift your looks and mood. Scroll down to discover more.
How to Style Colourful Coats:
Style Notes: Lily wears the orange Massimu Dutti coat and keeps the rest of the look fuss-free with neutrals.
Style Notes: Nana, the queen of colour, styles a green River Island coat with snake-print knee-high boots. What a pairing!
Style Notes: Zeena's Instagram feed (and wardrobe) is just joyful! Here, she's paired a bright-blue coat with pink accessories for a fun winter look.
Style Notes: Barbiecore is going nowhere, but you can easily put a grown-up twist on the trend by wearing a tailored coat in a bright shade with monochrome tailored separates.
Style Notes: Fluffy and green? What's not to love!
