The Best Dresses at the Met Gala, as Voted by Our Editors
The Met Gala red carpet always forces even the most risk-averse celebrities to have a bit of fun with their look and try something different. Usually, Kim Kardashian West does just that, but in 2017, her version of 'different' was understated. Props to that.
This year, there were a few different looks that had the internet talking. Rihanna was one, Katy Perry in a red veil was another, and the Olsen twins went back to their boho days. But these weren't the looks that had the Who What Wear Australia editors the most excited.

"Against a sea of red gowns, Zoë Kravitz stood out in her baby pink Oscar De La Renta gown. She's clearly taken this year's theme into consideration, and the black details give the look some edge."
—Amanda Stavropoulos, Fashion Editor
"While watching the Met Gala red carpet, I’m always thrilled to see what the stars make of the wild dress code. There’s been a major play for most avant-garde take on this year’s theme by Rihanna and Katy Perry, but Priyanka Chopra’s Ralph Lauren trench-dress mash-up is the winner in my eyes. The high, open collar? Fabulous. The wedding-dress length train? Show stopping. She looks chic, cool and sexy, and brings a whole new lease of life to the classic autumn staple."
—Delicia Smith, Chief Sub and Production Editor
"Priyanka's look is totally unexpected but I think it works. Trains are also major at the Met Gala and who knew a trench coat with a train could look this good?"
—Anna Hecek, Social Media Editor
"Some say Kim went too simple for the Met Gala red carpet, but I love this look on her. The hair, the gown, the shoes—what's not to love?"
—Lisa Patulny, Beauty Editor
"I think this is such a different vibe for her. She normally goes for a more skin-baring look, but this has some mystery to it. I love the chic, clean hair behind the ears and the square neckline of her ocean-blue Marc Jacobs dress. Very classic."
—Katie Fowler, Editorial and Social Assistant
