6 Things I'm Excited to Wear This Fall and 6 I'm Prob Skipping

With Labor Day officially behind us and the actual start of fall less than three weeks away, I can’t help but think of all the things I can’t wait to wear when the temperatures finally drop. At the same time, while I make room in my closet for the return of my boots and jackets, there are relics of seasons past that I’ve realized can probably just stay in storage—at least for now. Listen, I’m not saying tights are off the table entirely or that you should throw your old, tight over-the-knee boots away, rather that they just don’t get me excited this season, and if something doesn’t excite you, why wear it? To read about what else I don’t plan on wearing in the months ahead as well as see and shop the things I will definitely be sporting very soon, just keep scrolling.

While tights are in fact trending for the season ahead, they aren’t quite my cup of tea. Instead, I’m very into the classic belts that were shown on countless runways over blazers and with jeans and skirts and have been bubbling back up in recent street style.

Windbreakers, bombers, track jackets, and even some of my sportier puffers will be getting the silent treatment this fall, and oversize blazers are taking their place. While for now I’ll be wearing lighter versions since the temperatures have yet to majorly drop, in the coming weeks I plan on adding a thicker, wool style to my rotation.

Skipping: Tight Over-the-Knee Boots

Excited to Wear: Snake-Print Shoes

A few falls ago, I would have been so excited to style miniskirts and sweaters with a pair of tight, black over-the-knee boots, but this season, I think my OTKs are going to have to stay in storage in order to make room for all of the snake-print shoes I’m buying. From sandals to mules to pumps, I just can’t get enough of the expensive-looking trend.

Skipping: Belt Bags

Excited to Wear: Round Bags

It sounds random, but some of my favorite bags for fall just happen to be circular. From Staud’s Moon Bag to Hayward’s Tear Drop, round bags feel very fresh at the moment, while my old belt bags don’t really do it for me.

Skipping: Cutout Sweaters

Excited to Wear: Cardigans

I’m not exactly sure why, but all I can think about right now is cardigans. I want to wear them over tanks, as going-out tops with just a bra, and layered over other thin sweaters when the temperatures actually drop. Sorry, cutout sweaters, but I’m kind of over you.

Shop cardigans:

Skipping: Crystal Jewelry

Excited to Wear: Gold-Chain Jewelry

Last fall, statement jewelry was all about party-ready crystals, but this time around, designers seem to have shifted their focus to gold chains. From the chunky necklaces every fashion girl is wearing to earring and bracelet versions, the classic style has made a major comeback.

Up next? Three shoe styles I'm finally ready to get rid of.

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
