These tools dry, style, and zhuzh up our hair without causing heat damage.
Alyssa Brascia
Have you ever tried a new beauty product and been so overjoyed with the results that you just wanted to bang your head against a wall and ask yourself what took so dang long? That's pretty much what happened the first time I discovered the ease, effortlessness, and salon-level results of hair dryer brushes. Otf shaped like a round brush and powered with flowing air to simplify the blow-drying process, these styling tools are designed to bring the salon experience home.
“A great hair dryer brush should simplify your drying routine but also prioritize the health of your hair,” says Meredith Kirkland, Senior National Education Manager at Ghd. She goes on to explain that the ideal tool will make your drying routine simpler and “leave your hair looking healthy, shiny, and full of movement, like you just stepped out of the salon.”
In the pursuit of perfectly coiffed hair, we tested a handful of hair dryer brushes at home—putting big-time names like Dyson and Revlon to the test. From there, we decided which tools deserved spots in our overflowing hair tool collections, considering price, extra benefits, hair type, and design. Below, the seven that bested our expectations and kept our strands looking fabulous.
The Best Hair Dryer Brushes of 2026, at a Glance
- Best Overall: Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler Complete
- Best Budget: Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer And Volumizer Hot Air Brush
- Best Drugstore: Hot Tools 24K Gold Blow Dryer Brush
- Best for Frizz Control: Ghd Duet Blowdry
- Best for Volume: Drybar The Single Shot Blow-Dryer Brush
Best Overall: Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler Complete
Pros: Comes with a variety of attachments, great for touch-ups, great at creating a salon-level blowout
Cons: Expensive, doesn't work as well on coarse, curly hair types
Hair type: All | Extra benefits: Additional attachments, Coanda curling technology
I get it. The price is a horse of a pill to swallow for something as seemingly simple as a hair dryer brush. But Dyson's epic Airwrap system isn't an ordinary hair dryer brush—it's the Maserati of hair dryer brushes. Once you get the knack for using it, you'll likely never feel the need to pay for a salon appointment again. Plus, it comes with so many options: a 1.2-inch Airwrap barrel to create voluminous curls or waves, a 1.6-inch Airwrap barrel to create loose curls or waves, a firm smoothing brush to smooth and add polish to frizz-prone hair, a soft smoothing brush to gently align and smooth fine hair, a round volumizing brush to volumize and shape fine, flat hair, and a pre-styling dryer to help prep damp hair. Invest, and you'll basically have a fully equipped hairstyling salon from the comfort of your own home.
Customer review: “Where do I start?! The Airwrap really is an all-in-one. It is so easy to maneuver and adjust to your liking. There is a learning curve with the curl attachments, but you really need to just let the product 'find' your hair, and it will do all the work for you. The small barrels are perfect for my 'a little longer than shoulder length' hair, but I can see why some may need to purchase the longer barrels to adjust it to their longer hair length. It is a splurge, but it provides a better alternative to styling, and you can nail almost any look with it."
Best Budget: Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer And Volumizer Hot Air Brush
Pros: More affordable than other options, creates a salon-level blowout
Cons: Doesn't work as well on coarse, curly hair types
Hair type: All | Extra benefits: Volumizing, smooths frizz
This affordable hair dryer brush just might be one of the most viral products on the beauty market. (In fact, many people say it's a less-expensive dupe for the Dyson Airwrap.) It comes in a variety of super-playful colors, and you can choose from three different temperature settings—cool, low heat, or high heat—to style your hair however you see fit. Be sure to check it out our full review of the Revlon One-Step Dryer where a group ofBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing employees with different hair types and textures shared their own experiences with and thoughts on the brush.
Customer review: Best hair device I own! My hair can never hold a blow out because it's very curly so I've always used a straightener, which would fry my ends. I am able to to dry and blow my hair out in one step with this brush!! After I wash my hair, I air dry it for about 15 minutes, then use the brush. The barrel is wide so it covers a lot of hair and I can use big sections. The volume afterward is unreal! Absolutely amazing, and I've purchased them for friends and family bc I've been raving about it!
Best Drugstore: Hot Tools 24K Gold Blow Dryer Brush
Pros: Low-priced, ergonomic, beginner-friendly
Cons: Not the most seamless user experience
Hair type: All | Extra benefits: Reduces frizz, long cord, boosts volume
This hair dryer brush is surprisingly fancy-schmancy considering it comes in at a very reasonable $52. Chicness aside (how pretty is that gold and black color palette?), this top-rated tool has tons of assets for a good hair day: two types of charcoal-infused bristles for top-notch detangling, refreshing, and smoothing perks; three temperature settings to suit all hair textures; two speed settings; and its namesake 24K gold styling surface to ensure even heat distribution.
Customer review: "I’ve only been using this a little less than a week, but it’s changed my hair life and I am telling all my girlfriends. It’s reduced my time from 45 minutes to 10. TEN!! Not only that, I don’t have to flat iron my hair, which saves time and heat exposure to my fine hair. The end result is SO smooth… This product is so (superficially) life changing that I’ve begun looking at better hair care products so that I can help grow all the broken hairline hairs into a gorgeous full set of healthy locks."
Best for Frizz Control: Ghd Duet Blowdry
Pros: Works on all hair types, improves volume, prevents breakage
Cons: Quite expensive
Hair type: All | Extra benefits: Smooths frizz, improves shine
If you’re looking for a hot air brush that does it all, look no further than the Ghd Duet. This brush easily competes with the Dyson for the top overall slot due to its high-end technology, multiple styling benefits, and ergonomic design. “As a professional stylist, ghd Duet Blowdry is the best,” says Kirkland. “It’s unique combination of precise airflow and a heated barrel and bristles leaves your hair smooth, shiny, and full of volume.” It’s engineered to operate with Heat-Air Xchange Technology, where “the airflow is consistent in temperature and power the entire length of the barrel.” In short, no flyaways and a smooth finish—all while protecting the hair.
Customer review: “Ok I’m looooving this new dryer brush combo! This tool feels and looks like it’s straight out of a high end salon! It took me about 10-15 mins to dry my hair when it would normally take me 20-30! It’s pretty solid so it’s not the lightest thing in the world, but not so heavy that your arms get tired. I’ve used it multiple times now and I’m super happy with it!”
Best Attachments: InfinitiPro by Conair The Knot Dr. Ceramic Detangling Hot Air Brush
Pros: Comes with two different attachments to detangle and smooth, can be used right at the roots
Cons: None we can think of
Hair type: All | Extra benefits: Low-priced, ceramic head, ionic technology
This tool is one of the coolest and most innovative hair dryer brushes to make our list, thanks to the two different attachments it comes with. The first is an oval brush featuring a smart blend of soft and hard bristles for max detangling and smoothing benefits, and the second is a unique volumizing pick that you can use right at your roots. Plus, you can choose from two different heat settings and one cool setting as you style and finish.
Customer review: “I love this, wish I bought it sooner! I found it very easy to use and immediately gave myself a salon-quality blowout with great volume and shine to my hair.”
Best for Volume: Drybar The Single Shot Blow-Dryer Brush
Pros: Adds volume to fine hair, great for short hair, creates bouncy curls and loose waves
Cons: Another pricey option
Hair type: All | Extra benefits: Ergonomic handle, fast dry time, reduces frizz
It's not surprising that the blowout franchise of all blowout franchises makes some of the best at-home tools to help you create and maintain your strands at home. Drybar actually has two different hair dryer brushes: this one, which has a 2.25-inch round brush perfectly suited for shorter hair lengths and creating loose waves and curls, or The Double Shot Blow-Dryer Brush ($155), which has a 2.44-inch oval shape and gently curved edges to deliver megawatt volume. Pick your poison, but both models suit most hair types and textures, are ergonomic and lightweight, and leave behind ultra-polished, shiny results in their wake.
Customer review: “This is my second Single Shot—my first one lasted 2 and 1/2 years with frequent use. The motor was still going strong, but the brush had lost some prongs and the bristles were worn down. Hoping this one lasts me at least as long! The Single Shot gives me a nice smooth blowout while still providing some body and bounce.”
Best for Quick Styling: Amika Hair Blow Dryer Brush 2.0
Pros: Part blow dryer, part styler, varying bristle lengths
Cons: Some shoppers cite quick bristle breakage
Hair type: All | Extra benefits: Detangles, prevents breakage, adds shine
Part blow dryer, part styler, this all-in-one hair dryer brush is one of our personal favorites, and the satisfied reviewers would certainly agree. It strategically utilizes negative ion technology, so you get the shiniest and smoothest end result, and the special mix of long and short bristles helps to detangle, smooth, and reduce breakage as you style.
Customer review: “Love it—I was a big skeptic on this type of product. My hairstylist told me to give this particular model a try, and I’m glad I took the leap. Having long, thick hair, it usually takes forever to blow dry with a traditional dryer and hairbrush, and your arms get so tired it’s hard to finish sometimes, but this crafty hot tool is surprisingly lightweight, doesn’t tangle, and does the job well.”
What to Look For in a Hair Dryer Brush
- Design: “A quality blow-dry brush should feel intuitive in the hand, offer enough grip to create real tension through the hair, and distribute heat evenly so you’re smoothing instead of scorching each section,” says hairstylist and CEO of Goldie Locks, Devin Graciano. Look for ergonomic handles, longer cords, and detangling bristles.
- Heat: “A great hair dryer brush should simplify your drying routine but also prioritize the health of your hair,” says Kirkland. “Look for a tool with consistent heat and airflow.”
- Brush: The type of bristles in the brush you go for should also be considered. “They should both glide through the hair without snagging and feel comfortable at the scalp,” says Graciano. “A great dryer brush should leave your hair looking polished, bouncy, and healthy, not just ‘done.’”
How do you use a hair dryer brush?
Graciano recommends starting with towel-dried hair and a bit of leave-in conditioner to detangle (she personally recommends the Goldie Locks Signature Leave-in Conditioner). "If your blow-dry brush has adjustable settings, start with a lower heat and speed to get the hang of it and practice," she suggests.
Kirkland recommends getting the hair 80% dry before crafting the shape of your blowout. "For tons of root lift and volume, hold the tool horizontally and glide out away from the scalp as you dry," she recommends. "This will help you achieve a voluminous shape that will last all day."
