Everyone in Copenhagen Is Wearing This New Boot Trend
Over the last few years, Copenhagen has solidified itself as a real contender in the fashion industry. As the home base for cult brands including Ganni, Cecilie Bahnsen and Rotate By Birger Christensen, Denmark's capital has become a hub for emerging designers and by extension, emerging trends.
Given the city's undeniable cool factor, Copenhagen Fashion Week has also become a go-to for editors and influencers making it the perfect place to scout up-and-coming street style trends.
Over the last week, we've been keeping a keen eye on what the style set was wearing to the runway shows in Denmark, and it has become clear that one key footwear trend was a must-have amongst the showgoers. No matter what picture you look at, you'll be sure to see at least a few of your fashionable favourites wearing a pair of flat mid-calf Chelsea boots very similar to the ones below.
Though Chelsea boots have been around for decades, this year the classic shoe has been given a modern update. New-season iterations of the item sit higher on the leg and appear taller than the ankle-grazing Chelsea boots of year's passed. The chunky boots of 2020 also often feature a chunkier tread sole and have been created in modern fabrications including mock crocodile and rubber.
In terms of styling, we've seen many showgoers tucking their trousers into the tops of the high boots or pairing the shoe with sheers tights and miniskirts. Given the boot's popularity in Copenhagen, we can only imagine it will be just as ubiquitous at London Fashion Week in a few weeks time.
