So Far, Every Guest at New York Fashion Week Is Wearing Their Jeans With This Timeless Coat and Shoe Combo
Ask any fashion editor how they get dressed for New York Fashion Week and they'll tell you some iteration of the same thing: they dress for comfort, not shock value.
There's a lot of peacocking happening on the streets outside of fashion week right now and how could there not be? At the end of the day, the runway shows are a gathering of the most fashionable people in the world, with flocks of photographers outside. It feels like everyone is on a quest to get photographed in their favorite pieces.
And while New Yorkers are known for being some of the most stylish people in the world, who dress how they want and don't care about what anyone thinks about it, they are also a practical people. Especially this winter, with snow mounds and ice still covering most of the sidewalks after a supremely cold January.
And it appears a very New Yorker outfit formula has emerged this fashion week so far. Guests are wearing their jeans, whether baggy and acid wash or vintage and dark blue, with loafers and a statement coat or turtleneck. There's nothing new about the outfit combination but naturally every New Yorker has a different way of bringing it to life.
This specific look is also a reminder that looking comfortable is honestly the biggest secret to actually looking chic. Peacocking is fun, but real New Yorkers know the looks that get the most double takes are the ones people see themselves wearing everyday. And we will be wearing this fun coat and/or sweater, loafer, and great jeans combo until further notice.
