Fragrance Is My Specialist Subject—These New Perfumes Will Be Future Icons
As a beauty editor, I often get asked what my favourite part of my job is. Although there are so many things I could say, one thing I love more than anything else is getting to write about fragrances on a daily basis. I've been obsessed with trying different perfumes for as long as I can remember, as there's something so transformative about wearing a new scent. Even if I'm having a bad day, one spritz of my favourite fragrance has the power to make me feel that little bit better.
With summer in full swing, lots of brands are bringing out new perfumes for the season ahead. My inbox is pretty much full of press releases and my desk is overflowing with samples, so I've been spending the last few weeks sorting through everything and selecting the stand-out fragrance launches from the last month.
I've included my top picks below, and trust me when I say that these scents are not to be missed. From brand new designer fragrances to classic perfumes that have been reimagined for the warmer months, keep on scrolling for the best new perfume launches from July, and get ready to take your summer fragrance collection to the next level...
5 of the Best New Perfume Launches in July 2024
- OUAI Hair And Body Mist St. Barts
- Byredo Mojave Ghost Alcohol-free
- Jo Malone London Orange Marmalade Cologne
- Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid
- Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild
1. OUAI Hair And Body Mist St. Barts
Key notes: Dragon fruit, orange blossom, tuberose and musk
First up is this hair and body mist from one of my favourite hair care brands, Ouai. This bottle smells just like a tropical vacation, and everytime I spritz it everyone says that it reminds them of being on a sandy beach with a pina colada in hand. What I love most is that it doubles up as both a hair and body mist. Sure, it doesn't last as long as a typical perfume, but it's perfect for throwing in your bag and topping up throughout the day.
2. Byredo Mojave Ghost Alcohol-free
Key notes: Ambrette, nesberry, magnolia, sandalwood, violet, amber, cedarwood and musks
Yep, that's right. Byredo has brought out a limited edition version of Mojave Ghost and it's alcohol free, meaning it's perfect for anyone with sensitive or allergy-prone skin. This fresh, comforting scent envelops the skin in a warm, woody embrace.
3. Jo Malone London Orange Marmalade Cologne
Key notes: Orange peel, orange bigarade and cashmere wood
I couldn't do this roundup and not talk about Jo Malone's collaboration with Paddington. Aside from the adorable packaging, this citrusy scent (inspired by marmalade) is the perfect addition to your summer fragrance collection thanks to its sparkling aroma. Yes, there are strong hints of zesty orange, but they are beautifully balanced by notes of warm, sensual cashmere wood.
4. Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid
Key notes: Vanilla orchid, vanilla duo and ozonic accord
Gucci has just released its newest scent as part of its Gucci Flora line, and it's just as delicious as the others. The first ozonic floral gourmand fragrance from the brand, this perfume offers an exciting new take on your traditional vanilla scent.
5. Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild
Key notes: Banana blossom accord, jasmine, macadamia accord, sandalwood and vetiver des sables
First of all, can we talk about this bottle? I'm just as excited to put this on my dressing table as I am to wear the scent itself. This is the perfect summery, fruity, floral fragrance thanks to notes of banana blossom. But don't be fooled, as macadamia and sandalwood give this scent surprising depth.
Shop June's Best Perfume Launches
Key notes: Raspberry, strawberry, rose, amberwood and rhubarb
If you're looking for a sweet, fruity fragrance this summer, then look no further, as Commodity has brought out the perfect scent for you. This ripe, juicy perfume is ideal for the warmer months, and although the opening notes are super sweet, once it settles on the skin you can really notice the smooth base of amberwood.
Key notes: Sea salt, citrus, jasmine and pine tree
I'm sure you've all heard of Dior's iconic summer fragrance, Eden-Roc, and this season the brand has brought out a limited edition version which comes housed in a sunshine-yellow case adorned with the Toile de Jouy motif. It doesn't get much chicer than this.
Key notes: Patchouli, musk, pink lotus, coffee absolute, mandarin and rhubarb
If you're looking for an exciting new scent, you're going to want to know about this collaboration with NOYZ and photographer Damon Baker. Exclusive to Harrods, this sensual fragrance will quickly become your new go-to for date nights.
Key notes: Lemon, mandarin, orange, aldehydes, rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, vetiver and cedar
We're really being treated to lots of special, limited edition fragrances this year. New from Chanel, L'eau is a fresh, modern take on the iconic N°5 perfume, housed in a sleek oval bottle that is perfect for popping in your handbag.
Key notes: Juniper, pink pepper, green mandarin, lavender, cypress, mint, lily of the valley, amberwoods, cashmere woods and cedarwood
This is easily one of the most unique perfume launches I have come across. It has a comforting, almost spa-like scent that makes you feel calm the second you spritz it. It feels fresh, green and almost a little bit herby making it ideal for those hot summer days.
Key notes: Benzion, tonka bean, patchouli, labdanum, vanilline and musk
Celine's latest creation is a beautiful fragrance for everyday wear. It has a delicate, powdery base that develops into a creamy, musky scent once it settles on the skin.
Key notes: Lemon, pink peppercorn, fennel seed, neroli, nutmeg, patchouli, cedar, vetiver and hay
If you've not yet heard of Ffern, let me introduce you. This unique fragrance brand creates natural, limited-edition scents in the English countryside, and comes out with a new fragrance every season. They have just released their summer 24 scent, designed to capture a day spent in the Tuscan hills.
Key notes: Sandalwood and pink peppercorn
Fendi launched their first ever line of fragrances in June, and there are seven exquisite scents to choose from. My personal choice would be Perché No, which is described as "the comfort of a linen sheet and the unmistakeable warmth of antique wood." There's something so nostalgic about this fragrance, and it reminds me of holidaying in the Italian countryside as a child.
Speaking of holidays, Kayali has just launched this handy set of miniature scents inspired by different destinations. The best thing about this launch is that you can wear the scents separately or layer them to create your own personal fragrance.
Key notes: Neroli accord, Italian blood orange, white florals and ambermusk
If you like Tom Ford's original Neroli Portofino perfume, then you will love this. It features a double concentration of neroli accord making this fragrance even more captivating.
