The Trending Dresses at ASOS, COS and John Lewis All Have One Thing in Common

There are dozens of amazing dresses on the high street this month, with plenty of different styles appearing regularly on our Instagram feeds. If you are a fan of the COS aesthetic and tend to favour minimal pieces with boxy and, at times, "ugly" silhouettes in muted colours, there is one trending dress style in particular that is worth paying extra attention to— oversized smocks.
Of course COS is in on this trend, with a billowing black smock with puffy sleeves and a tiered skirt that I've seen several fashion girls wearing with velcro sandals and a bucket hat to complete the Nana-on-a-cruise vibe. John Lewis and Partners has also created an amazing smock in a navy windowpane check print, with an even more oversized silhouette than the COS dress. If you are into the shape of this dress trend but want something a little bolder, then ASOS White's butter yellow wrap smock dress is a brighter alternative. Complete the look with a pair of Teva sandals and if you're feeling particularly brave, a leopard bucket hat.

1. John Lewis and Partners Dress
Style Notes: Alexis embraces the school-girl look of this check smock dress, by pairing it with Mary Janes, white ankle socks and a black bucket hat.
2. COS
Style Notes: This COS oversized wrap dress has been yoyo-ing in and out of stock— it has a simple smock silhouette with puffy sleeves and a tiered skirt.
3. ASOS White
Style Notes: ASOS White has also created a tiered smock dress in a textured pale butter colour. This has already been a big hit with the Instagram fashion crowd.
