Don't you love it when the fashion powers that be invent new clothing terminology? Case in point: What do you get when you cross a shirt and a jacket? A shacket, of course! Yep, we now have another fashion hybrid to add to the motley lineup, which includes such inventions as skorts and jeggings. Thankfully, however, the shacket is a far more refined and grown-up creation than some of the other fashion mashups, and it's fast becoming the cool girl's go-to for low-key weekend dressing.
Offering the polished nonchalance of a shirt with the structure and weight of a jacket, this is all I want to be wearing over my summer dresses and white tees during the notoriously tricky late-summer period. It may be a style best kept to the weekend—no matter how you style it, it will never look "smart"—but it's sure to become your default throw-on jacket for a Sunday when you need something to go with your jeans and Breton.
You'll also be glad to hear that this is also a trend that has thrived on the high street. While Ganni and MC Overalls have fab options in vibrant prints and hues, you really can't beat Other Stories, Topshop and Weekday for their abundant offering of styles that come in premium-feel fabrics.
