Fashion Editor and Shoe Expert Here: These Are Spring's 6 Chicest Shoe Trends
One of my favorite topics? Shoes. I am a self-proclaimed shoe addict turned expert with the honor of trend forecasting but the restrictions of a city-girl budget. Thus I bring you my picks for the chicest shoe trends to buy right now (within reason).
Every season, I scour the runways for a full grouping of footwear trends that soon trickle to the streets of New York and beyond. For spring/summer 2023, the trends consisted of angular silhouettes, practical flat styles, and dainty details. I've shopped out the six styles you don't want to miss for peak chicness.
Sculptural Wedges
Sculptural pieces have become synonymous with chic and modern when it comes to jewelry, shoes, and hardware accents. A comfortable wedge is upgraded with a shapely heel detail.
Luxe Flip-Flops
Flip-flops are always trending, but these elevated versions are super luxe. In smooth leather and neutral tones, these comfortable sandals feel very updated.
Mary-Jane Flats
Simple ballet flats and Mary-Jane flats have been trending all year. Strap-adorned flats are a dainty addition to any ensemble.
Fisherman Sandals
Fisherman sandals are the ultimate utilitarian footwear. Fashion people can be seen sporting these with longline shorts or easy day dresses.
Square Toes
Angular square-toe shoes were a runway hit this season and they come in all silhouettes. Whether in ballet flats, mules, or boots.
Floral Accents
Floral appliqués have been everywhere recently, whether it be a choker necklace, mini bag, or a pair of playful heels. These springy details can be paired with a slinky slip dress or a pair of casual jeans.
