I'm a Tracksuit Aficionado and These Are the Coolest 9 Brands
Anecdotally speaking, when you work in the fashion industry, you fall into one of two categories: You either love tracksuits or think by wearing one, you've given up on life. I am in the former category—I have always had an affinity for sportswear. It's not that I'm especially sporty (netball in Y6 was probably my athletic peak), but I like how comfortable it is and when worn right how smart it can look.
I spent months hunting down a pair of classic Adidas tracksuit trousers on eBay and wear a specific pair of Ganni trackies all the time. You could say I'm a tracksuit aficionado. Today, luxury sportswear is everywhere, thanks to the explosion of athleisure. While the aforementioned trend has moved away from yoga leggings paired with oversize hoodies à la Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, the tracksuit is here to stay.
There are, however, a few notes that are worth considering when going for this trend. Firstly, if you love the look of a hoodie and matching track pants, then ensure it comes in muted colours, as this is a great way to ensure it looks the most expensive, even when it's from the high street.
Now, there is an exception to that rule, and that's if it's an Adidas Originals tracksuit, which I think you can get away with in any colour you like. That said, if all of the above is making you recoil in horror, then perhaps I can persuade you with just a pair of tracksuit trousers? (You can opt for one of the smarter-looking pairs that come with a seam down the front or a tapered leg). Want to know more?
