The 6 Winter Shoe Trends to Add to Your Shopping Cart
If there’s one time of the year when expanding your shoe wardrobe is a must, it’s winter. While you can get away with wearing shoes like sandals and heels in most months, the cold temps and onset of snow days mean that seasonally appropriate styles are essential. So, which will be big this year?
While there are, naturally, plenty of boots in your future, there are also the sneakers all over the streetwear scene of late and this year’s version of cool party shoes. Take it from me: These are all at the top of my wish list at the moment—or have already landed in my closet. Case in point: the faux-croc boots I recently added to my wardrobe.
Scroll down to see how fashion girls are wearing the six biggest winter shoe trends for the season ahead, and then shop our edit of the best styles to add to your shopping cart.
There's no doubt that faux croc has become one of the biggest trends this year, and that extends to shoes. We're seeing luxe boot versions popping up everywhere.
MOCK CROC
SLOUCHY BOOTS
This year marks the return of mid-height slouchy boots. It's a silhouette we haven't seen in recent years but looks cooler than ever. I think they look best styled with a midi dress or coat that falls over the top of the boots.
CHUNKY SNEAKERS
Sneakers continue to get bigger and chunkier, yes, but also more comfortable—and that's something I can stand behind.
COMBAT BOOTS
Utilitarian combat boots just won't quit. This year, style yours with something delicate like a satin slip skirt.
SPARKLING HEELS
Winter is also the height of holiday style, and if there's one shoe style that will define the party scene this season, it's anything that sparkles with crystals or sequins.
SQUARE TOES
Square toes are the shoe silhouette that feels instantly cool. We've seen them gaining traction this year, but they're poised to explode into next.
