Riccardo Tisci's Burberry Debut Was Possibly Even More Epic Than Expected

While I’d love to describe the Burberry S/S 19 runway show and collection in a few short words, today’s debut for the house by Riccardo Tisci hardly allows for such conciseness. Between the major models, throwback elements, reimagined classics, and a whopping 133 looks, you could say the new chief creative officer came in with a bang—and then some. To see our top five takeaways from the show, then catch the full runway video, simply continue on below.

1. The Trench 2.0

In a nod (or should I say nods) to the fashion house’s iconic trench, Tisci sent multiple reimagined versions of the classic piece down the runway and alluded to it on other items, like the below dress.

2. An Array of Animals

In a hint of irony, the brand’s first major show since banning the use of fur under Tisci’s helm didn’t shy away from animal prints in all forms. Dalmatian, cow, leopard, and more were all part of the show’s print story.

3. A Kendall Comeback

After being vocal about how she will only selectively walk in runway shows (and sticking true to her word), Kendall chose Burberry as her first runway of S/S 19 fashion month, and for all we know, it could be the last.

4. Check, Mate

Similar to his use of the trench, Tisci also reimagined what the house is most famous for, its check print, but only with a select range of pieces—predominately shirts—throughout the extensive collection.

5. Not Your Average Black Dress(es)

Despite being made up predominately of black dresses, Tisci’s immaculate pairing of fringe- and crystal-adorned eveningwear with satin and embellished shoes has me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see who wears one for award season.

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
