5 Old-School It Bags Kendall, J.Lo, and More Are Bringing Into the Next Decade

With the fashion crowd’s adoration for all things nostalgic right now—from ’90s-inspired denim to early 2000s flared jeans—pieces that were popular 20 years ago are suddenly feeling "cult-like” again. In fact, when it comes to the handbag market specifically, there seems to be a complete resurgence of some of the bag styles many of us toted around back in the day.
On that note, Jennifer Lopez actually stepped out recently with a cult bag from the early 2000s: the Longchamp Le Pliage tote. It was really no surprise that the bag made it into her rotation because as a testament to its longevity, it basically has remained popular from when many of us wore in high school through today. And believe it or not, there is a range of other classic It bags celebrities are bringing back in a noteworthy way—making them especially relevant as we cruise into the 2020s.
If you’re ready to embrace the best of the bags from the noughties (and earlier) again, keep scrolling to check out the old-school bags some of the coolest A-listers are bringing into the next decade. Then, shop iterations of each if you’re looking to invest in a new designer bag.
As the It bag silhouette for many A-listers (Sarah Jessica included) for night-out events in the early 2000s, this small Louis Vuitton bag continues to make its rounds in the celeb crowd—especially with the new multi-Pochette style. Kendall Jenner has been wearing the cool graffiti print iteration on repeat this season.

Voilà. Here’s a closer look at the classic Longchamp Pliage bag J.Lo wore out and about recently. While she opted for one of the more high-end snake-embossed styles (her specific style appears to be sold out), the other iconic nylon shapes will remain a hit as well.
On Jennifer Lopez: Sally LaPointe sweater and pants; Longchamp bag; Jimmy Choo heels
Okay, this one probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise here, as we’ve been seeing fresh iterations of the iconic Dior Saddle bag (you know, the Carrie Bradshaw-favorite) circle through the fashion and celeb world for a few seasons now. The updated logo style complimented Winnie Harlow’s going-out ensemble just flawlessly.

If you grew up in the late ’90s and early ’00s, one of the only bags that mattered in the designer world was the Prada nylon backpack, along with the range of other nylon Prada bags. As we’ve been covering over the last few years, fresh iterations of the nylon satchels are highly relevant like this studded silhouette Elsa Hosk has been toting around.

Another ’90s/early 2000s Carrie Bradshaw esque bag was the Fendi Baguette, which is holding its own with modern interpretations right now, like the embossed all-white leather style Lilly Collins carried around this year. The S/S 2020 Fendi runway show also showcased reimagined Baguette styles, so there’s no doubt we’ll be seeing more and more of this signature bag as we head deeper into the 2020s.
