Between running her own business and being a mother of two, Clarissa Egaña, founder and creative director of the ballet-inspired activewear line Port de Bras, is all about making the most of her daily schedule.
It makes sense since Clarissa’s designs strike the perfect balance of form and function, which means she can be dressed for a Zoom meeting and transition into a workout all within seconds.
Take a look at how she gets her workdays started in her hometown of Caracas, Venezuela, below:
7 A.M.
My day starts waking up to the ray of light I let in through our blackout curtains and the sound of birds, which I love, and usually, with a tiny foot on top of my head from one of my two children who escape their room every night to come to sleep with us.
Honestly, no complaints. I love to see them sleeping next to me and contemplate them being calm first thing in the a.m.
I won't lie. I grab my phone from my bedside table and excitedly place it in front of me to see the action I missed while sleeping.
I’m totally obsessed and in love with my job, and I can’t wait to see the orders placed overnight or exciting comments and tags on our Port de Bras IG profile. I stay in bed for a while just browsing and answering quick questions from my team.
7:45 A.M.
I get up, brush my teeth, and pick out my WFH clothes. It’s pretty cool to be the test driver of our own samples. I get to wear Port de Bras all day every day, and the sensation is amazing.
Making clothes that feel so soft on the skin, are nontoxic, and are flattering is what really keeps me so focused and motivated. Everything I do feels so much better when I’m wearing my power clothes.
Since its summer, I’ve been giving our biker shorts more days than usual. I'll throw our Shay Blazer on top and look perfectly poised and ready for online business meetings.
8 A.M.
I go downstairs, take my supplements, and grab my warm lemon water. By this time, both my kids are awake. Alana is about to begin Zoom class, so I set her up and go outside to our garden with my little one, where I do my affirmations.
I spend some time feeling the breeze, the sun, and admiring the many different green leaves that surround our home. Our city, Caracas, has so much nature and great weather. I actually give thanks every day for being able to be here now.
8:30 A.M.
This is when I sit at my desk and drink a good big matcha latte that should last me a couple of hours.
I start writing emails and following up with my team, posting and squeezing as much from my to-do list as possible in this hour. It’s usually when my head is the clearest and when I can focus the most. In the afternoons, I’d rather spend time with my kids than worry about getting any urgent tasks done.
10:30 A.M.
My beauty routine during the day isn’t too complex. I do most of the heavy work at night after I dry-brush, shower, etc.
In the mornings, I just splash my face with thermal water, which is usually Evian. Then, I'll apply a good serum—I’m currently trying and loving this by Affya—and gua sha my face for a few minutes. It’s relaxing and energizing at the same time. I then apply tinted sunscreen and illuminator, lip gloss, and some shades of blush. I’m obsessed with the Flamingoals Blush Palette by Mia del Mar.
11 A.M.
It’s time to move! I’m a huge fan of Melissa Wood’s workouts, and I love seeing her in our clothes. Her classes aren't long, and her method wakes the body up, focusing on the breath. I prep the space first with essential oils by Organics Alchymeic.
If I’m up for a longer workout, I’ll do it at night, either indoor cycling or weight training with my husband. Sometimes I'll do a full yoga flow before showering and going to sleep.
11:30 A.M.
It’s time to check on the new production line at the sample atelier. It’s an annex in our home, so I go in and out many times a day. I just love to be around my team as well as checking on the production and creating new pieces and combinations. It’s when I play and come up with new designs. It’s fun and also kind of magical.
I usually light our Palo Santo once a day in there because I love to have the clothes leave the house with their own clear energy when they go to their new owners.
