Coco Jones Wore a Full Face of Drugstore Makeup to the Grammys—All $17 or Less
In case you missed it, the 66th annual Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles last night. There were so many notable nominees, and Coco Jones was one of them. She was nominated for five Grammys, including Best New Artist, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Album. The singer-songwriter ended up winning Best R&B Performance for her song "ICU."
Before her big win, Jones walked the red carpet wearing a Celia Kritharioti dress and a glowy, fresh-faced makeup look that made us stop and stare. You can imagine how delighted we were to learn that the entire look was created with drugstore products… all priced at $17 or less. Yep, it's proof that "red carpet" and "affordable" aren't always mutually exclusive.
Diana Shin was the celebrity makeup artist behind this look. "I created a bronze, glowy glam for Coco Jones at the Grammys using L'Oréal products," she said in a press release. "I wanted to keep the makeup clean and beautiful to complement her glamorous dress." Ahead, see and shop all seven of the exact makeup products Shin used.
The first step was to use this iconic illuminator, which can be worn alone, under foundation, or even over makeup for targeted highlighting. It works as a full-face tinted moisturizer and luminous primer, as it's infused with good-for-skin ingredients like glycerin and shea butter. It seems Shin applied this to Jones's face like a primer for an all-over radiant effect.
Then, Shin applied this foundation over top. It's the most expensive product of the bunch, clocking in at $17. We don't know about you, but we're used to seeing foundations for double or triple that price, so this has "affordability" written all over it.
The formula offers up to 24 hours of buildable coverage and resists transfer, sweat, and oil. In fact, it contains three oil absorbers to keep the skin looking fresh, even on a red carpet.
Next, Shin applied this deep red-pink powder onto Jones's cheeks for a pop of color.
Then it was onto the eyes. Shin lined Jones's eyes with this product. It's waterproof and smudge-resistant and delivers a 36-hour hold.
The only makeup product that Shin used on Jones that wasn't from L'Oréal were these wispy strip lashes. She used them instead of mascara for volume and definition. They have an invisible band for seamless blending, and they stay put for hours with the Kiss Lash Couture Super Strong Strip Lash Adhesive ($6).
Next, Shin shaped and defined Jones's brows with this brow pencil that's waterproof and budgeproof.
The final step was a swipe of this pinky-brown lipstick. Although it has a matte finish, it won't dry out the lips because it's infused with hyaluronic acid for comfortable all-day wear.
